]]>Recently, Schulze has been restoring still-life paintings of flowers by adding a pixelated touch to them. By doing so, he is bringing together a form of art that has been around for centuries with a modern digital world.
The draw of Schulze’s still life paintings is that they obscure the subject but still allow the viewer to appreciate its beauty. The colors and the shapes are still there; they are just not so obvious anymore, and you need to look past the blurriness.
According to Schulze, most of the paintings he works on are obtained from thrift and antique stores.
“The paintings I am working on are mostly from amateur painters or self-thought artists from the early 20th century. Many of the paintings are copies of masterworks made just to study the style or for commissions,” he explained in a recent interview with My Art is Real Magazine.

]]>The post Alison Altafi Creates Captivating Abstract Fiber Art appeared first on 5dwallpaper.com.
]]>Altafi’s fiber art is nontraditional in many ways. For starters, it features abstract designs that are full of all sorts of colors, bold textures, and unusual formations. Also, the artist creates most of her works in round shapes, giving them an added visual appeal.
According to Altafi, her creative process is based on intuition, and she lets inspiration of the moment, as well as fibers and colors, lead the way. This results in unique pieces that she refers to as “portals to other worlds” and have the goal of allowing the viewer to use them as an escape from everyday stress.
“I find the cyclical nature of round weaving to be very cathartic and meditative. I create art that feels magical, otherworldly and fantastical- art that I myself can escape into. I’ve had my work referred to as “portals” to other worlds, and I love imagining them in that way,” the artist shares on her website.

]]>Relief art is a method of sculpting that sees the artist create pieces that are attached to a solid background, which usually consists of the same material. This gives sculptures a special effect in which they appear to emerge from the background they are attached to.
Behzadi usually creates his relief art on walls. Showcasing his creative process on social media, Behzadi can be seen applying plaster to the wall and creating a basic outline of an angel with spread wings and flowing hair. Then, he proceeds to carve out the final details before sanding the sculpture to give it its final appearance.
While the depiction of angels represents most of Behzadi’s creative output, the artist also creates relief art featuring other designs. This includes motifs from nature like feathers, leaves, and flowers.
Behzadi frequently shares his newest works on his Instagram page while also posting reels that give insight into his creative process. You can check out more of his relief art below.

]]>The painting, “Portrait of Fräulein Lieser”, was last seen at an exhibition in 1925. Since then, it changed hands several times before reaching the family of the current owner in the 1960s. The current owner reached out to Vienna-based auction house im Kinsky, which confirmed the authenticity of the work.
“Portrait of Fräulein Lieser” is currently exhibited at im Kinsky and is set to be auctioned off on April 24, 2024. The estimated price of the painting is between $32 million and $54 million. The most recent work of Klimt to be auctioned off was the painting “Lady with a Fan.” It was sold for $108.4 million, setting the record for the artist’s most expensive piece of artwork.
“Klimt’s paintings rank in the top echelons of the international art market. His portraits of women are seldom offered at auctions,” im Kinsky in a statement. “A painting of such rarity, artistic significance, and value has not been available on the art market in Central Europe for decades.”

]]>First of all, his skill is impeccable. So if you’re someone who truly appreciates art that can be backed up with refined technique, Howlett has got you covered. You’ll never be left feeling like you’re not looking at something truly professional.
Next, his vision and style is something special. If you’re someone who needs to be inspired by an artist’s mission, you may fall in love with Howlett’s. While his goal’s are somewhat open to interpretation, it’s clear he’s someone that focuses on surrealist art that makes you think.
For instance, Howlett loves painting portraits of living human giants, and he often depicts lying down in the wilderness with the mountains. The paintings truly are something like you’ve never seen before, and they make you question what it’s trying to say. Perhaps we, too, are all giants in the real world—but in our own special way.

]]>Before she even starts painting the portrait, Liang has an extensive interview with the subject. She tries to understand their personalities, dreams, hopes, interests, and more. Only then she decides on a fitting spirit animal and how to show her in its full glory.
According to the artist, people absolutely love the results of her works because they feel more personal than the usual portraits.
“It’s a collaborative experience that is created together,” she shared in a recent interview with Creative Boom. “I tried to capture their inner essence rather than merely their physical appearance. Some of them use my pictures for their profile pictures, and one asked me to print on a T-shirt.”
Liang graduated from San Francisco’s California College of the Arts but is currently living in London, where she creates most of her art. The artist describes her style as “counter-realism,” explaining it as a “bridge between the real and the surreal.”

]]>Based in Melbourne, Australia, McKellar found a way to combine her passions through her work as a graphic designer and illustrator. A lot of her projects feature naturalistic elements: elements like floral patterns and cartoon-like animals.
“I grew up watching Disney and more recently Studio Ghibli and reading picture books like Beatrix Potter stories,” shared McKellar in an interview with Pikaland
She then explained that these cultural references influence her chosen subjects and themes. These themes include “anthropomorphism (animals adopting human characteristics), humans with animal features and human interacting with animals.”
“I am very interested in the relationship and I very strongly believe animals should be given a voice,” she adds. “This is the reason I express these concepts in my work. It does make me smile looking at an illustration of a hare wearing a cable knit jumper or a gorgeous girl with a birds nest for hair!”
While most of her work requires a more functional approach (projects that include art direction, print, packaging, branding, and lettering), McKellar allows herself some room for experimentation with her personal projects. These projects might incorporate other mediums like embroidery, watercolors, and collage work.

]]>Because her process was laborious and time-consuming, Bogonovich decided to develop a technique in which she creates smaller molds using various objects and forms. After the molds are finished, she is able to cast different shapes quickly and attach them to the sculpture.
The adjustments not only allowed the artist to work more quickly but also “heightened the oddball-ness of the compositions.” The unpredictable nature of the glazing process also results in unusual and unnatural colors, adding another layer to the whimsicality of the pieces.
“My instinct as an artist is to work with multiple parts, many bits and pieces, organized intuitively,” Bogonovich shares. “Repetitive additions often result in decorative and embellished surfaces. I like to work in groups and consider the individual pieces to be part of a fluid whole.”
Bogonovich’s works are displayed in multiple art galleries and are often featured at art shows across the United States. The artist also gladly shares her newest creations on social media. Check out more of them below.
