Another thing that makes Kagoe’s comics unique is the way she creates them. Unlike most comic artists, Kagoe paints her comics with watercolors and does minimum digital interventions on them. This results in a captivating style that makes each panel a work of art on its own.
According to Kagoe, her passion for comics and video games dates back to her childhood. She used to draw all sorts of comics as a way to amuse herself while also spending a lot of free time playing video games. When she grew up, she decided to bring together those two into her current project.

]]>Ferdon produced a number of comic series in recent years, employing different styles and covering various subjects. However, his most popular works remain simplistic single-panel comics that have little or no dialog at all.
Mostly black and white, these comics cover a range of funny subjects, protagonists, and situations. This is why sometimes the underlining joke won’t always be obvious, but when it hits, it hits hard.
“I like how simple and direct humor is in the cartoon world,” explains Ferdon. “Humor without words is not always understood, but when you connect with the reader, it is great.
Ferdon is a graphical designer by profession. Besides making his funny comics, which he shares on his social media, the Chilean artist is also engaged in various other projects. He has published a couple of humorous books so far and is currently part of the creative team behind several magazines/fanzines, including Don Serapio Magazine and La Faena Magazine.

]]>Apart from sharing her illustrations and webcomics on Instagram, Meneses also works to a graphic novel with her husband and takes care of her online shop. She also has a YouTube channel. A creative life that requires both imagination and resourcefulness.
“I think many illustrators are going to relate to this, but every time I get stuck in a creative rut, I watch a Studio Ghibli movie,” she shared with the Patreon blog. “I also love going out and walking… When I’m having a tough time, I also try to take it easy and read, draw stuff I like, take a bath, work at a cafe, meet up with my fellow illustrator friends, and talk with my husband Ed. He’s a creator, too, so we go through the same emotions that surround creativity. In my opinion, talking with someone can be one of the fastest ways to overcome a tough time or a creative crisis.”
Embarking on their creative journeys, both Meneses and her partner have been traveling around the world – wherever their art takes them. “In 2013 my husband Ed and I made this crazy decision of selling everything we owned, pack one suitcase each, and moved (with our two fat cats Hamburguesa and Cereal) to Europe, in the search of our dream city/place to live,” she explained on her website. “We’ve been living all over the world since then: Cologne, Berlin, London, Hastings, and less than a year ago we moved to New York City.”

]]>This is exactly what McDonald did. Yet, more recently, he accepted that his diagnosed clinical depression is caused by chemical imbalances in the brain, and finally started taking medicine after years of solely dealing with it through humor.
While McDonald accepts that a medicinal approach is important in treating his condition, it never stopped him from turning his experience into a darkly humorous comic that is very relatable to people who have similarly suffered from depression or anxiety.
Although there is nothing really funny about these conditions, in the wise words of Monty Python’s Life of Brian: “life’s a laugh and death’s a joke.” At the end of the day, laughter can help us get a bit of perspective about our life and put our suffering into context. Humor can at least be a temporary remedy until we find more permanent ways to deal with our suffering.
