]]>With this in mind, Orlando-based lettering artist Danison Fronda has been dressing motivational phrases in beautiful calligraphy and sharing them with his followers on social media.
Fronda discovered his love for lettering back in 2018 when he decided to make custom invitations and props for his wedding. He realized that despite the complexity of the task, he enjoyed the project and continued to hone his skills.
Pursuing his passion for lettering, Fronda entered the world of wedding calligraphy professionally while also starting a personal project that saw him creating colorful calligraphy of various upbeat phrases.
Along the way, Fronda realized that he has a knack for teaching as well, which resulted in organizing online lessons and art classes. He teaches his students that the lettering isn’t as “intimidating” as it seems and can help them express themselves creatively while finding their own personal style.
“You can see people’s personalities in lettering, and lettering is such a powerful thing,” he explains. “Words are very powerful, and that’s why I think I love lettering so much.”

]]>The post Linda Yoshida is Bringing Back the Art of Handwriting appeared first on 5dwallpaper.com.
]]>After years of dipping her pen into ink, Linda Yoshida still considers herself a perpetual student of calligraphy as she works her way to excellence with every pen stroke.
With some 20k fans on Instagram, Yoshida’s first introduction to the art of handwriting was in the sixth grade. “My teacher had the most beautiful handwriting and taught us basic Italic Hand,” she recalled in an interview with The Pen Company. “I was so inspired by her that I would sit at my desk after finishing my homework and practice my cursive over and over.”
Little did she know that it was the beginning of a lifelong journey. Over the years, Yoshida studied with master calligraphers and is now a proud member of the Society for Calligraphy guild in Southern California and volunteers as the Lead Graphic Designer for the guild’s Calligraph journal. But to this day, she continues to attend classes and workshops, with the notion that practice makes perfect.
“Calligraphy is a life-long learning experience,” says Yoshida. “We need to be constantly learning and honing our skills in order for calligraphy to stay relevant, and to keep up with the changing times and client requests. I firmly believe that to be a good calligrapher, we need to study from the old masters.”
A perpetual student, Yoshida might just teach you a lesson or two about writing and dedication. Follow her Instagram page for more.

]]>According to Lampas, his calligraphy work is a combination of the different languages and letters he knows, as he invents new letters that look familiar but are in fact undecipherable.
“Calligraphy is not only about art, it is the way to pass the message,” he explained in an interview with Medium. “Just imagine,” he says “in hundred years’ people will realize that they actually need the way to communicate with each other — and to provide humankind with the lingua franca, where all the languages are evenly represented. Here we will need to find new letter shapes, because everyone would want to see their country represented in the new alphabet.”
Displayed in museums and galleries around the world, in countries like Russia, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and even South Korea, he has also won the GQ Russia “MAN of the YEAR: NEWCOMER” award for 2019, for his street art, fashion and cultural projects.
“I write my thoughts on culture, technology and art are influencing the future,” relayed Lampas. “The language itself is not important — but the way how people are searching for the unified language and what guides will they use to transform written languages is,” he adds.
Most recently he created a monumental printed installation on the façade of Dover Street Market in London. Scroll down to see more of his selected work.

]]>“My favorite way to explore new styles is to pick up a pencil or brush pen and just start writing,” she shared with Surely Simple. “Yes, there are tons of inspiring people on Instagram and it’s ok to find things that you like in others’ work, but the best way to find your own style is to put down the phone, get out the pens, and just practice until you find what you love.”
A left-handed calligrapher and lettering artist from Owensboro, Kentucky, Fitzmaurice found her love of calligraphy while taking an online calligraphy class on her search to find a way to be creative in her busy schedule. Having started lettering and calligraphy in January of 2015 with pointed pen calligraphy, she picked up her first Tombow brush pen about a year after that.
As a lefty, she had to teach herself techniques on how to hold her pen. Though she admits she still has the occasional smear, she agrees practice has helped minimize lefty pangs. After taking on an envelope addressing job, she was hooked and has been loving all things letters ever since.
According to Fitzmaurice, lifting others with letters is her ultimate goal and she currently strives to teach others the art of calligraphy through her blog, her Brit and Co class Lettering for Lefties, and in-person workshops. In addition to learning new techniques for herself, she gives tips to her followers to help them achieve the best result. Follow her tips and tricks on Instagram:

]]>Currently residing in Berkeley, California, Yamaguchi’s artwork is a unique blend of performance and installation art with calligraphy, pushing the boundaries of traditional Eastern classics and contemporary artistic expression. By juxtaposing the traditional Eastern classics with contemporary artistic expressions, she manages to transform the two-dimensional art of Japanese calligraphy into the art of physical expression through performances.
But funnily enough, growing up, Yamaguchi was attracted to a whole other side of creative writing, with her childhood dream being: to become a novel writer. “I started to read and write around age 3,” she relayed in an interview with The Design Kids. “Around 5-6 years old, I made a series of picture books with my illustrations and my little fantasy stories. […] “I remember bringing the book I made to the calligraphy school and showing it to Master Sato. My childhood dream was to become a novel writer.”
With a clear passion for writing, Yamaguchi’s calligraphy art is thought-provoking as it is striking.

]]>“I’ve tried my best to make my channel a calm, inspirational space where you can approach the basics of drawing, watercolor painting, journaling, and many other crafts,” writes Campbell on her website. “There are so many benefits to everyday creativity, so I hope you’ll grab a paintbrush and join me. Because creativity is play, anyone can do it!”
Based in Prince Edward Island, she teaches anything from how to knit your own hat to how to bake a gorgeous birthday cake. But mostly, she focuses her work on papercrafts.
“At the heart of my YouTube channel is the idea that making the artifacts of our everyday life, things like cookies, calendars or greeting cards, into things of beauty is an important task,” she says. “It’s uplifting. First, because the process of creativity is so wonderful, and second, because it’s just lovely to be surrounded by lovely things.”

]]>“Eventually I discovered that making art was a great way to have fun,” she recalled. “My mother didn’t mind letting me draw or paint on certain walls, and we had a sand driveway that I could make line drawings in after it rained. My grandmother used to color and paint with me, and I remember watching her and thinking, ‘I wish I could keep inside the lines like that!’”
Eventually, she found her true calling in calligraphy, adding a contemporary twist to an ancient art. “I don’t use traditional calligraphy styles,” she says. “I like making up styles as I go. Often I create new styles depending on the client and what I think will be best for their event.”
Lending her skills to clients, as well as teaching calligraphy lessons, means that Bugbee’s days are full. But you can catch some of her work on her Instagram page, where she has gathered almost 100k followers.
