]]>Gordon is the author of Fowl Language Comics, which are described as “comics for imperfect parents”. They follow a family of human-like ducks going through all sorts of humorous and relatable situations. You’ll easily recognize moments from your own family life and probably feel a bit better about them once you realize everyone else is going through the same.
“My comics are largely inspired by my struggles as a parent, my fascination with technology, science and all things geeky,” Gordon shares on his website.
Gordon decided he would become a cartoonist while he was in kindergarten, and according to him, “so far, things are working out okay.” He has an impressive social media following, including 357K followers on Instagram, and has published four Fowl Language books to date: The Struggle Is Real, Welcome to Parenting, Winging It: The Art of Imperfect Parenting, and Tweenage Wasteland. ]]>The post Adam Douglas Thompson’s Simplistic Comics are Hilarious appeared first on 5dwallpaper.com.
]]>Thompson, who is perhaps best known for his contributions to the Daily Cartoons section at The New Yorker, creates simplistic comics that go straight to the point and are hilarious. Most of Thompson’s comics are black and white, feature minimalistic drawings, and just one line of text. But that is more than enough for him to deliver his social media followers plenty of laughs.
In order for simplistic comics to work, they have to start with a great idea. For Thompson, finding those ideas isn’t a process set in stone. He employs all sorts of techniques, including meditation and looking through “random” images and words until he finds something that piques his interest.
“I keep a note on my phone of thousands of fragments of ideas, and another note where I polish those fragments into fully-fledged ideas,” he shared in a recent chat with Bored Panda. “I find that you really can’t force ideas – you have to just spend a lot of time in a deliberately receptive state of mind, and allow them to come.”

]]>Kunanets is famous for her food paintings that look just like the real thing. Her artworks show all sorts of mouth-watering meals like cheese-covered bagels, blueberry pies, cinnamon rolls, and seafood resting on antique plates and inviting you to take a bite.
Kunanets uses various techniques in order to achieve a realistic look for her artworks. For example, she adds thick layers of paint to mimic the spread on the bread or uses a piping bag to apply the icing on cakes.
According to Kunanets, the reason she chooses to paint food isn’t only because it looks good but also because it spreads positive feelings.
“I’m highly convinced that art should carry only beauty and love,” the artist explains in her bio at the art marketplace Saatchi Art. “Everything created by human hands is full of love; each detail is just perfect. Moreover, if something is created with pleasure – it is filled only with positive content.”
Kunanets shares her works on social media and also gives her followers an insight into the process of making them. Continue scrolling to see more.

]]>Gudim is a Russian artist and illustrator who attracted almost two million followers across two Instagram accounts with his two-panel comics. He’s the master of dark humor, and his illustrations portray modern society in all of its absurdity.
Gudim enjoyed drawing from a young age, but he didn’t pursue art academically. Following graduation, he started working as an engineer, but something wasn’t clicking even after he changed a few jobs, so he decided to return to drawing.
Artists often deal with a creative block, but Gudim is yet to run into this problem. He doesn’t struggle finding inspiration for his work, and he’s seeing things he could draw on every turn.
“I am not doing anything on purpose. I am not out for a ‘safari’ with a camera on people to see them in their habitat… As soon as I started the ‘Yes, But’ project, I began to notice examples of this format literally everywhere. So I just live and take notes,” he told Bored Panda.

]]>Based in Melbourne, Australia, McKellar found a way to combine her passions through her work as a graphic designer and illustrator. A lot of her projects feature naturalistic elements: elements like floral patterns and cartoon-like animals.
“I grew up watching Disney and more recently Studio Ghibli and reading picture books like Beatrix Potter stories,” shared McKellar in an interview with Pikaland
She then explained that these cultural references influence her chosen subjects and themes. These themes include “anthropomorphism (animals adopting human characteristics), humans with animal features and human interacting with animals.”
“I am very interested in the relationship and I very strongly believe animals should be given a voice,” she adds. “This is the reason I express these concepts in my work. It does make me smile looking at an illustration of a hare wearing a cable knit jumper or a gorgeous girl with a birds nest for hair!”
While most of her work requires a more functional approach (projects that include art direction, print, packaging, branding, and lettering), McKellar allows herself some room for experimentation with her personal projects. These projects might incorporate other mediums like embroidery, watercolors, and collage work.

]]>Xiao Yao Saaf is the mastermind behind the Instagram page @xiaoyao_ya, and she specializes in handmade micro-crochet. She describes herself as someone who likes small and beautiful things, and that’s part of the reason why her approach to crocheting is so unique.
Flowers are her most common subject, and she uses white thin yarn – usually French DMC crochet yarn – to bring them to life, before dying them by hand. This is her favorite part of the whole ordeal because it feels like watching a flower grow and bloom in your hand.
You’ll learn a lot about flowers through Saaf’s Instagram posts since she always makes sure to list their names, along with the tools she used in their making. We’ve also seen her share some of her patterns, and you can give them a shot if you’re a crocheting enthusiast trying to recreate her work.
Saaf’s crochet isn’t only inspired by flowers, but nature in general, and we’ve seen her crochet everything from butterflies to pine cones and acorns over the years.

]]>Orel recently shared details about FUTUREAHEAD on Behance and social media, and it is safe to say that the project has intrigued a lot of people.
Orel’s headphones come equipped with small digital screens that light up when the users put them on and can project all sorts of multimedia content. It can be the artwork of the album you’re listening to, song lyrics, artist’s photos, or simply a slideshow of images that correspond to the music you enjoy.
Of course, the functionality of the headphones also plays a big part, with Orel designing a comfy fit for the ears and an adjustable headband.
“The design takes inspiration from retro headsets, which typically featured a stylish and nostalgic aesthetic,” Orel said about her headphones. “My design task was to combine the retro look with modern technology, and at the same time it was important to emphasize the functionality of the headphones.”
The FUTUREAHEAD headset is currently in the design phase, but we can’t see a reason why such a cool idea wouldn’t become a reality.
