]]>One of them is Japanese designer Takahiro Miyashita, who recently presented a speaker inspired by the Flatiron Building. The HIFI speaker stands at 43 inches and represents an intriguing take on the building’s look.
Miyashita’s creation shows the Flatiron Building wrapped in concrete, which is eroding in order to reveal its look. The body of the speaker is made out of polycarbonate composite resin and boosts a monochromatic color palette.
When it comes to specs, users can expect seven built-in speaker units that deliver 110 decibels. Included are two woofers, two mid-range drivers, three tweeters, and a sound transducer.
Miyashita released the Flatiron Building speaker through his label TAKAHIROMIYASHITATheSoloist. in limited batches. The release included a special event in which Miyashita himself selected 27 songs that were played on the speaker in the store in which it was available. A single speaker retailed for a price of $6,735, but that didn’t stop the first two batches from being sold out in late 2023. More units are expected to be available at some point this year.

]]>Pantone used around 130,000 colorful glass tiles from the Spanish glass mosaic brand ONIX to cover the bottom and sides of the pool. He used white, red, yellow, and various shades of blue, and placed them in strategic places so the movement of the water and sunlight create the optical illusion of a pixelated rainbow.
This resulted in a one-of-a-kind swimming pool that everyone would like to take a dip in.
According to Pantone, with this intriguing project, called Chromadynamica Pool, he wanted to create “an effect that had never been seen in a pool before: an underwater design that focuses on the light.”
“The colors from the diffracted light submerged in the reflections of the water,” the artist added. “I love the contrast it forms with the rest of the house, with its clean-cut forms, as well as with the views and the setting,”

]]>For miniature creator Marina Paredes, the passion for miniature art sparked long before Covid. A dollhouse expert, over the years she has amassed more than 50k followers on Instagram. Rather than realistic recreations, Paredes’ work has a naive quality to it—the sort of dollhouse you might’ve dreamed of as a small child.
Working mainly with wood, Paredes uses both softwoods like balsa and hardwood like linden. “I like to use it because it is a very versatile material,” she shared about her creative process with The Daily Mini. For added interior details, Paredes uses clay. She then paints the finished piece with acrylic paint.
According to, Paredes she finds inspiration in architecture, design, colorful objects, and decoration. But her original source of inspiration comes straight from her childhood when she used to play with Polly Pocket sets.
“The first miniature I made was when I was around 10 years old,” she recalled. “I made it with toothpicks and it was a little house with small furniture. I remember that in order to open and close the door, I used a piece of cloth. I still keep it with much affection.”

]]>Giménez studied advanced architecture at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, but she later decided to mix up her love for architecture with everything from photography to social media. She also has a special place in her heart for 3D visualization and interior design, and all of her talents come together in her creative project Gaudsm.
When deciding to use the power of artificial intelligence to bring Gaudi into the 21st century, Giménez’s main goal was to explore aspects of Catalan Modernism at different scales and translate them into a contemporary minimalist expression of natural forms.
She definitely succeeded, since some of her buildings look like Gaudí himself could’ve designed them if he was still around today. They borrow elements from such iconic buildings as Park Güell, Casa Batlló, Casa Milà, and his magnum opus Sagrada Família, while still managing to remain entirely their own.

]]>Inspired by Haussmann’s works, architectural firm Vincent Callebaut Architectures recently decided to reimagine the city’s “look” once again by proposing a series of futuristic solutions for its buildings. In their works, supported by the Artificial Intelligence program, Paris receives a green and sustainable makeover.
Vincent Callebaut Architectures’ team based their ideas on the Paris Smart City 2050 project, which aims to help the city make an ecology-minded transition in the following decades. Their building designs incorporate a range of biological materials, including plants, hempline, bamboo, and many more. This turns the concrete buildings into living and breathing structures that can become a part of the ecosystem.
“Our team of architects continues to explore, via new artificial intelligence tools, the concept of climate and energy solidarity between energy-intensive Haussmann buildings and positive energy biomimetic architectures inspired by both shapes and structures and ecosystem feedback loops,” the studio explains.

]]>“I will look for you, I will find you, and I will post you,” this is how the creator of Ugly Dutch Houses describes its goal. The Instagram account was created as an online project to show that not everything in The Netherlands is beautiful and that some things have to change and get a makeover. Because there isn’t an available beauty filter for ugly buildings, right?
Although the page has reached more than 2,000 followers, there are images of buildings that are worth checking out, and pressing the “follow” button. Because we are sure that, in a matter of time, the Ugly Dutch Houses will blossom just like his Irish and Belgium cousins, who also share images of unpleasant buildings.
If you’re interested to see some ugliness check out the gallery below. We assure you there isn’t anything beautiful to see here.

]]>Schaik found inspiration for these unique constructions, part of the Lost Tablets series, while observing the remains of the Parthenon. He found that the iterations of this Ancient Greek temple can be tracked in its base despite its decaying condition. His works are crafted in the same vision, bearing the scars of time on them.
Each of Schaik’s pieces is made using secondhand Legos. The plastic bricks, with its discoloration, scratches, and other marks, tell the story of their past owners while being a part of a new object. The structures themselves are often in deteriorating condition, being built with holes, gaps, and crumbling parts.
Lost Tablets is an ongoing series, although Schaik intends to wrap it up after completing 100 unique structures. The finished pieces, each named after a ship found crew-less and adrift at sea, can be browsed on the project’s official website and social media. They will also be on display at several art galleries in Australia in early 2023, including Melbourne’s Crystal Palace & Courtyard.

]]>Hazlett is a professional designer, with ten years of experience under her belt. She now specializes in crafting different objects, scenes, and scenarios out of paper, but how did she decide to pursue this creative calling?
“Over the first lockdown she decided to make the house she could see from her window out of paper, and the love for recreating buildings was born. Her biggest passion is the tiny details, along with the knowledge that she can create something completely unique for someone,” she explains on her official website Paper Emi.
Like her very first paper cutout, Hazlett’s art is mostly inspired by Dutch architecture, with a special focus on the canal houses surrounding her home in Amsterdam.
Her process is pretty complex, and it starts with photographing the buildings, before designing each one digitally. Once that’s done, she cuts the paper on her plotter before folding it to shape and assembling each of her paper buildings by hand, making sure to use high-quality textured paper each time.

]]>Sack’s drawings usually depict metropolises packed with imposing buildings, spectacular maze-like streets, and other monumental presentations of urban spaces. Some are inspired by the real cities and architecture from the world, while others are a product of the artist’s imagination and contain abstract, fantasy, or dystopian elements.
It also isn’t rare for Sack to combine reality and fiction, creating a new “personal universe”, as he puts it in a recent interview.
“For me, buildings become literal building blocks, similar to cells and atoms, that as a whole, employed ad infinitum, spell out a cosmos,” Sack tells Voyage Houston.
Sack applies this to his creative process as well. Most of his drawings begin with a single landmark or a structure. He then develops his metropolis from that point, adding buildings, streets, and other constructions.
Over the years, Sack exhibited his works in galleries around the world while having artist residencies in Virginia, Italy, and on the cruise ship MS Amsterdam. He also frequently shares his new drawings on Instagram. Check out more of them below.
