]]>That’s why Tia thought that her orange cat would also enjoy a short a trip to the local beach, so she took Pumpkin and Moustachio there for the first time. Little did she know that she would discover something new and pretty hilarious about her pet.
“He actually really loved the beach but we soon found out he didn’t love the wind. The faces he was making, we’d never seen anything like it before, so we were taking pictures and videos,” his owner told The Dodo.
Even though Pumpkin enjoyed exploring the beach, he wasn’t particularly fond of the wind and the faces he was making to show that were pretty hilarious. Pumpkin’s angry face very soon became a meme that took over the Internet and is now making people from all over the world smile.

The artist wrote for Bored Panda that both students and teachers seem to enjoy his illustrations because they all can relate to weird and funny situations his comics depict.

]]>This UK-based artist has always had extremely vivid and weird dreams that later turned into a serious sleep disorder when she became an adult.
“Vivid dreams combined with night terrors and PTSD-induced nightmares made for an exhausting mix, to say the least, and every single day, I would dread going to sleep, thinking “what is going to happen tonight?” Some nights, I couldn’t fall asleep at all,” Anita told Bored Panda.
At least one good thing came out of this difficult situation when Anita’s boyfriend suggested she should start drawing her dreams and posting them online. This is how About Last Night came to life. Even though the artist doubted that anyone would be interested in her work, she soon garnered a following and has even turned her illustrations into a book.

Sweetie has changed several homes before the couple finally found her in a shelter and gave her a loving forever home. Now she’s inspiring Lucas and his followers from all around the world and bringing joy into our lives.

]]>“Sometimes I think with autobiographical work, ‘Oh, this is just something that happened to me and no one else will care,’” she relayed in an interview with Shrill Society. “But I really like reading autobiographical work, and that’s what I connect to. So I try to keep that in mind that the personal is universal. If you tell something really personal and focus on the feelings of it, then other people can relate to it.”
Her illustrations aren’t meant to look realistic. Loose and quirky, their wonkiness adds to their humoristic edge. And much like her characters, her stories are meant to be taken lightly (though most often than not, they address serious issues).
A common theme throughout her work seems to be the hardships of growing up. “I have a lot of stories in my head of growing up,” says Abeln. “Once I started making comics, I found they were the perfect way to get the stories all out and release them. I don’t want to forget them and forget how I felt.”
“When I think about memorable autobiographical experiences, the growing up years are what stand out the most to me because I think being a teenager is the craziest transition period that people go through,” she adds. “Every year of being a teenager feels like five years in terms of growth compared to the rest of your life. It’s a chaotic and exciting time.”

]]>“It all began one night many years ago,” they write on their website. “We were joking around and started to ponder a very important question: ‘What if our socks could talk?’ It was one of those light bulb moments, but once the spark had been ignited we simply couldn’t turn it off…”
Now their online store features more than 30 quirky sock designs, each with their own unique personality and own playful name (Ernestoe Hemingway for example, or our personal favorite: David Sock-Knee). Their socks have been created by designers all over the globe, with each pair produced in Europe from combed cotton.
“It usually starts with the name,” explained the pair in an interview with Yes I’m a Designer, where they talked about their creative process. “We love to use puns like ‘The Sockfather’ or ‘David Sock-Knee’. Then we commission the character illustration and wait for sketches, give feedback, get revisions and repeat until we have a design we’re happy to produce. At this point we send the design to our producers, commission product photography, upload the product to our shop, notify our sellers, post them on social/email campaigns and TA-DA!”
Their stated mission? “To inject more fun into people’s lives through our characterful ChattyFeet socks.”

]]>But funnily enough, the saught after creative never treated illustrating as a feasible job. “To be honest, I don’t feel like an ‘illustration sensation,'” she admitted in an interview with the Ohh Deer Blog. “I’m just at home, drawing and eating peanut butter out of the jar most of the time. I never expected to make a career out of art and even now that I have, I’m still amazed that I actually get paid for my doodles.”
Like most artist, Correll’s passion for doodling sparked at an early age. “I made my own comics at school (I photocopied them in the school office, sellotaped penny sweets to the front cover and sold them to my classmates for 20p), and I had a monthly comic page in my church newsletter,” she recalled.
“I knew that it could be a career, but I didn’t really think that it was something I could do – everyone I knew had a practical job, like being a nurse or a teacher, so I thought I would probably do something like that,” she added. Still, she would spend most of her time drawing and writing and ended up at art school. “But even then I didn’t think that I could make a career from art – I planned to become a teacher,” she admitted. “It wasn’t until I was actually getting commissioned for illustration jobs that I finally accepted the fact that I had become ‘an illustrator'”.
Now a full-blown illustrator (no quotation marks!) she has amassed over 675k followers on Instagram. Quite a feat for an artist who illustrates while eating peanut butter out of the jar. Take a look at some of her quirky illustrations in the gallery below:
