Andrés J. Colmenares describes himself as a graphic designer and a self-taught illustrator who makes adorable comics on the Internet. The Colombia-born artist’s project called Wawawiwa began in 2009 first in Spanish, and now in English.
“Wawawiwa was born in 2009 as a result of an obsession with drawing and writing jokes,” the artist shared on his personal website. “My work is mostly gags inspired by everyday life with cute and positive characters. At the end, it’s just an escape to the ongoing harsh realities of life.”
According to the artist, his biggest support is his wife Viviana.
“I do all this, next to my amazing wife Viviana,” Colmenares added. “She is the other half in this pie! We would like to say that Wawawiwa is a big visual hug that tickles you at the same time, but we won’t.”
