Whitney also claims she strives to inspire her clients “to express themselves by going bold with their space because life’s too short to stay in your comfort zone.” The list of her clients is pretty impressive and it includes Brew -N- Krew Ale House in Salinas, California, in addition to several beautifully decorated Airbnbs scattered everywhere from Nashville to San Diego.

]]>Eidson enjoyed making art for as long as she can remember thanks to her mother and grandmother, who encouraged her to knit, paint, and draw. She rediscovered her love for fiber art after graduating from McGill University, where she studied Religious Studies and Anthropology.
“When I graduated in 2016 I moved to Nova Scotia where my love of fiber art was quickly re-kindled. My mom signed us up for a rug-hooking class that summer and what can I say, I was hooked immediately,” she explains on her official website.
Eidson’s love for fiber art grew even stronger during the pandemic after she lost her job as a bartender. With more time on her hands, she decided to fully immerse herself in her hobby and used her first CERB cheque to buy herself a tufting gun.
Tufting quickly became her superpower and she used her talent to craft all sorts of quirky objects. Eidson is now best known for her hooked rugs, usually inspired by the animal world, but she also found viral fame thanks to her cozy “sculptures” shaped like milk and juice cartons.

]]>However, one contemporary textile artist that stands high above the rest is Judit Just.
Originally from Barcelona and currently based in Asheville, Just’s training includes fashion design, sculpture, and textile art, with a special focus on weaving and embroidery. According to Just, she’s been elbows deep in textile ever since she was a little girl as her mother used to weave and sew all the time.
These days, Just’s wall hangings, sold on her etsy shop and shared on her eye-popping Instagram page, stand out not only for her unique weaving technique but for their vibrant colors.
Her work is mostly the result of trial and error, with room for improvising: “Most of my tapestries are just an involuntary result of an improvisation, a dance with colors and materials,” she admitted in an interview with Colossal. “I like to let myself flow and see what it transforms into afterwards.”
Her unique creative process incorporates old weaving techniques and vintage threads. Depending on the type of wall hanging, Just weaves her tapestries with rye knots created either on a lap loom or an eight-harness table loom.
“Once I finish and approve one design, I keep the original in my studio to reproduce it in different color variations,” she explains. “Then I redo them and make them evolve and metamorphose into other creations.”
Prepare to fall in love with a woven wall hanging!

]]>The post Przemek Krawczyński’s Lamps Truly Set the Mood appeared first on 5dwallpaper.com.
]]>Lately, we’ve been taken by Przemek Krawczyński’s one-of-a-kind lamps. Made of gourd—a dried tropical fruit found in Senegal, Guinea, and Mali—they are intricately carved, their patterns reflected on the walls and ceiling when lit.
Inspired by fractal art, geometry, and harmonious patterns and constructions, his work is made with precision and includes a lot of planning ahead.
“In my projects, I look for harmony and cohesion,” writes the Polish sculptor on his website. “I enjoy complicated, varied, and composite patterns; nothing about their arrangement is random.”
As such, completing a piece might take months at a time, with the finished result truly a one of kind. “Sometimes the designing stage is the longest and the most difficult, but most of the time the carving and the drilling are the most labor-intensive,” says Krawczyński.
Working with organic material, the first stage is skinning the gourd and cleaning the inside, after which the patterns are drawn on the gourd, using previously applied grids.
“Once the pattern is designed I engrave the contours. The next steps is marking the place of every single hole and painting of the gourd.”
Here are some of our favorite creations by him.

]]>If her weaves were an emotion they would ooze with nostalgia. Inspired by vintage textiles, traditional costuming, modern art, and the natural world, her pieces are meant to be hung on the wall and admired, in all their tactility.
Dividing her time between Melbourne, Australia and Brooklyn, NY, Moodie designs and creates woven wall hangings, develops weaving kits, and teaches workshops. “I love what I do,” she says. “I have brought on people who are invested in the vision, and we work together to make sure everyone is feeling happy and secure at each point of change. We really feel like a family.”
With features in New York Magazine, Anthology, and O Magazine; as well as more than 120k followers on Instagram, her community of weavers is slowly (but surely!) growing. You can also acquire her work on Etsy and through online shops and boutiques around the country.

This designer’s work is quirky and fun. Algeri creates products that feature bright and bold colors and soft textures made from ceramics, foam, and fiberglass. His inspiration comes from 70s cookbooks and construction books, which he has lying around his studio.

]]>Inspired by the joy of nature she wanted to create a product that hasn’t been seen before, “Nature has paths and things get stuck along the way. I wanted to do the same with wood, to take it and do something to it that’s never been done,” she told The Times of Israel.
She uses raw cypress and eucalyptus and to ensure that the wood is smooth she fills in the gaps and divets. The black boundary between the raw wooden logs and silvery aluminum is created from the burning of the molten aluminum on the surface of the raw wood.
“We focus on material research and development of forms, while drawing inspiration from the process of time and the supposed imperfections found in nature,” Shamia told Colossal. Her collection fuses the wood with cool metal for functional pieces, that make wonderful statements to any room.

]]>Song spent his childhood on the urban streets of Taipei and fell in love with plants during a visit to Bali. He decided to explore his passion further after moving into an apartment in London, which turned out to be the perfect place for his indoor garden to thrive.
The open-plan living space provided enough skylight for his growing collection of houseplants. It now looks like an indoor jungle — plants can be found hanging from the ceiling, covering the walls and shelves, and clustering the floors, and they turned Song’s home into a true oasis.
Jamie’s Jungle is a sight for sore eyes, but it takes a lot of time and energy to maintain it. Song was gardening amateur at first and learned how to take care of his plants through trial and error, and his journey is a great source of inspiration for everyone thinking of starting their own indoor garden.
