For opera artists to be able to sing unforgettable and heartbreaking songs that take you on a heavenly ride, they have to create characters that resonate with the viewers.  Meier dedicated this alphabet to all those tragic death scenes and their victims through the ages.

Although the process follows a controlled and technical way of working, the patterns take on a form of their own. This process allows for infinite visual possibilities.

Larsen’s recent project, Infinite Reflections, showcases the reflective properties of graphite on black paper. The project derives its foundation from Reflective Tones (2013) – which explored the visual effects produced by various graphite tones when applied to black sugar paper. Larsen plans to push the boundaries of drawing by applying a contemporary approach to the use of traditional drawing materials.

The drawings involve using a systematic process of drawing, experimenting with factors such as grid pattern, shading technique, graphite tones, and space, resulting in infinite visual possibilities.

Mlangeni started using coffee as paint last year when he was busy painting and some coffee spilled on his work. The spill created something beautiful in and of itself and Mlangeni was instantly hooked. He has since worked on many portraits using coffee, and has even painted global icons such as Nelson Mandela.

Mlangeni believes everything that makes a mark can produce a painting. He also believes anyone can be creative. According to him, coffee has allowed him to be more creative in his work.

Alsing makes hippos, zebras, elephants, and anteaters among other animals, and they are always curvy, whimsical, cute, and full of character.

For the model, she uses 3D drawings. Each unique figure is massively modeled, hollowed out, smooth scrap, oxide-treated, annealed, glazed, and raked. Her finished ceramic sculptures have smooth surfaces but with clear expression. She also uses raku – a demanding technique where ceramics are exposed to great temperature shocks.

She decided to do a preventive double mastectomy with nipple spearing and reconstruction on March, 2019. Ten days later she went in for a check-up to find out she was now stage 1, triple negative, most aggressive breast cancer survivor.

Gomes considers herself very blessed as she found her disease very early. She has lost her grandmother and aunt to the horrible disease.

In her pictures, she captures moms going through breast, colon, and thyroid cancers. Her work is very inspiring, giving many women the hope and courage to overcome their illness.

Her creative journey began after she realized there was a lack of diversity in dolls. So, she decided to take matters into her own hands.

It is her heartfelt belief that dolls should look like their owners and so, be available in all colors, genders, and body types. We do kids such a disservice when we don’t offer them a wide variety of toys. In an ideal world, differences in body type, skin color, birthmarks, and more would be accepted and celebrated.

Jandrisevits creates dolls that correspond to her customers’ facial structure. She believes that dolls are therapeutic for kids and that it is important for dolls to looks a lot more like their playmates.
