]]>Shinrashinge creates their works in a manner similar to that of “pop-up” animated books. Pulling and pressing cleverly placed paper tabs, the artist manages to transform an illustration into a moving scene that unfolds in a captivating way.
For example, in one of their moving illustrations, Shinrashinge transforms a cute puppy into two distinctive anime characters while also adding “magical effects”.
Shinrashinge also uses moving illustrations to “tell” entire stories, creating something of a paper movie. One of them is a story about a young girl who dreams of becoming a famous singer. It unfolds in two versions using the same moving illustrations. When flipped forward, the illustrations show how the girl has her dreams crushed but when flipped backward, it chronicles her path towards success and inspiration.
Shinrashinge shares their moving illustrations on social media. Their Instagram profile has 326K followers, and the number is growing by day. Continue scrolling to check out more of their works.

]]>In Ortiz’s works, a black raspberry becomes the head of a sheep that carries a sleeping girl, while a rose serves as a shelter from rain. The artist keeps his illustrations simple, adding minimalistic drawings, and relies on the viewer’s imagination to put together all elements together and see his idea.
According to Ortiz, his goal is to create fantasy scenes, tell stories, and encourage people to reconnect with their inner child.
“I like to create fantasy scenes from these objects,” Ortiz shares about his works. “It’s a way of telling stories with a single image. Each person is the creator of their own reality. There are many more possibilities in this world than our eyes allow us to see. With my work, I try to invite people to regain their inner child curiosity and wake up their minds.”
Ortiz regularly shares his newest works on Instagram, where he has more than 250K followers. Check out more of them below.

]]>Recently, Schulze has been restoring still-life paintings of flowers by adding a pixelated touch to them. By doing so, he is bringing together a form of art that has been around for centuries with a modern digital world.
The draw of Schulze’s still life paintings is that they obscure the subject but still allow the viewer to appreciate its beauty. The colors and the shapes are still there; they are just not so obvious anymore, and you need to look past the blurriness.
According to Schulze, most of the paintings he works on are obtained from thrift and antique stores.
“The paintings I am working on are mostly from amateur painters or self-thought artists from the early 20th century. Many of the paintings are copies of masterworks made just to study the style or for commissions,” he explained in a recent interview with My Art is Real Magazine.

]]>Altafi’s fiber art is nontraditional in many ways. For starters, it features abstract designs that are full of all sorts of colors, bold textures, and unusual formations. Also, the artist creates most of her works in round shapes, giving them an added visual appeal.
According to Altafi, her creative process is based on intuition, and she lets inspiration of the moment, as well as fibers and colors, lead the way. This results in unique pieces that she refers to as “portals to other worlds” and have the goal of allowing the viewer to use them as an escape from everyday stress.
“I find the cyclical nature of round weaving to be very cathartic and meditative. I create art that feels magical, otherworldly and fantastical- art that I myself can escape into. I’ve had my work referred to as “portals” to other worlds, and I love imagining them in that way,” the artist shares on her website.
Altafi shares her newest works and provides insight into their creation through social media. Scroll down to check out more of her “portals”.

]]>Before she even starts painting the portrait, Liang has an extensive interview with the subject. She tries to understand their personalities, dreams, hopes, interests, and more. Only then she decides on a fitting spirit animal and how to show her in its full glory.
According to the artist, people absolutely love the results of her works because they feel more personal than the usual portraits.
“It’s a collaborative experience that is created together,” she shared in a recent interview with Creative Boom. “I tried to capture their inner essence rather than merely their physical appearance. Some of them use my pictures for their profile pictures, and one asked me to print on a T-shirt.”
Liang graduated from San Francisco’s California College of the Arts but is currently living in London, where she creates most of her art. The artist describes her style as “counter-realism,” explaining it as a “bridge between the real and the surreal.”

]]>Chan is a New York-based artist who spent over two decades working in the jewelry industry, and even did a five-year tenure with Tiffany and Co. before starting her own brand. Her work slowed down during COVID-19 lockdowns, and this was when she discovered a new passion – collecting seashells with her daughter and transforming them into works of art.
Chan collects most of her seashells locally in New York, and she works from a home studio in her garage. After years of working with clay, wax, and metal, she’s now using sand, shells, and pebbles to bring her artworks to life, and she enjoys their intuitive nature.
“The seashells are like little jewels to me, each one a mosaic piece finding its place in the big picture. I’m inspired by their colors, texture, and shapes, and even the broken pieces, I find beauty in it,” she told My Modern Met.
Chan’s sculptures usually take the shape of animals, from turtles and crabs to lions and elephants, and she always makes sure that the shells she’s using match their characteristics.

]]>Recently, Lizée did an installation at Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum called “Seed of Life” that perfectly captures the essence of her creative process. It shows a cluster of blue strings being sucked into a vortex that “opened” in the wall. But the work is open to interpretation since it can also be viewed as an unknown entity using the portal to cross into our world.
According to Lizée, the illusion part of her work is important for sparking a sense of wonder in the viewer as well as giving them a feeling of uncertainty.
“I imagine gallery walls as thresholds between different realms or states of existence, between the visible and the invisible, between this physical plane we inhabit and otherworldly planes beyond our awareness,” the artist shares on her website.
Lizée’s other portals have “opened up” in galleries and art centers across the United States, including San Pedro’s Angels’ Gate Cultural Center, Oxnard’s Carnegie Art Museum Studio Galleries, and Lancaster’s Museum of Art and History.
