The post André Schulze Restores Still Life Paintings of Flowers By Giving Them a Unique Twist appeared first on 5dwallpaper.com.
]]>Recently, Schulze has been restoring still-life paintings of flowers by adding a pixelated touch to them. By doing so, he is bringing together a form of art that has been around for centuries with a modern digital world.
The draw of Schulze’s still life paintings is that they obscure the subject but still allow the viewer to appreciate its beauty. The colors and the shapes are still there; they are just not so obvious anymore, and you need to look past the blurriness.
According to Schulze, most of the paintings he works on are obtained from thrift and antique stores.
“The paintings I am working on are mostly from amateur painters or self-thought artists from the early 20th century. Many of the paintings are copies of masterworks made just to study the style or for commissions,” he explained in a recent interview with My Art is Real Magazine.

]]>Altafi’s fiber art is nontraditional in many ways. For starters, it features abstract designs that are full of all sorts of colors, bold textures, and unusual formations. Also, the artist creates most of her works in round shapes, giving them an added visual appeal.
According to Altafi, her creative process is based on intuition, and she lets inspiration of the moment, as well as fibers and colors, lead the way. This results in unique pieces that she refers to as “portals to other worlds” and have the goal of allowing the viewer to use them as an escape from everyday stress.
“I find the cyclical nature of round weaving to be very cathartic and meditative. I create art that feels magical, otherworldly and fantastical- art that I myself can escape into. I’ve had my work referred to as “portals” to other worlds, and I love imagining them in that way,” the artist shares on her website.

According to Inoue, he enjoyed watching Tom and Jerry when he was a kid and rediscovered the cartoon’s appeal while re-watching it with his kids. After he realized that there weren’t many quality toys and collectibles inspired by Tom and Jerry out there, he decided to make some by himself.
“As someone who collects videos, books, and dolls from favorite works, I couldn’t help but want merchandise while sharing scenes of hearty laughter with my child,” he shared in a recent chat with Bored Panda. “If they aren’t available for purchase, I decided to create them myself and build a collection.”
Inoue’s works have been quite popular among social media users, amassing more than 50K followers on Instagram. Check more of them below.

]]>Maka has a unique style that is characterized by the use of vibrant colors and adorning the subject with exaggerated features like lips, ears, and legs.
Maka created several nature-inspired series so far, including a particularly intriguing series called Endless Forest. The works from this series are dedicated to the works of Amos Tutuola. The late Nigerian writer is known for his short stories that were influenced by folk tales of West Africa’s ethnic group Yoruba.
In Endless Forest, Maka tried to bring the spirited animals from Tutuola’s stories to life in her own unique way.
“Nature is the main source of inspiration for me, with all its forms and flow. Plants and animals are often in my illustrations,” Maka shares on her website. “And when I need an interesting hero, I know where to look — the subway. Seriously, it always works! I met all my characters there. If you combine everything together, you get amazing stories.”

]]>Before she even starts painting the portrait, Liang has an extensive interview with the subject. She tries to understand their personalities, dreams, hopes, interests, and more. Only then she decides on a fitting spirit animal and how to show her in its full glory.
According to the artist, people absolutely love the results of her works because they feel more personal than the usual portraits.
“It’s a collaborative experience that is created together,” she shared in a recent interview with Creative Boom. “I tried to capture their inner essence rather than merely their physical appearance. Some of them use my pictures for their profile pictures, and one asked me to print on a T-shirt.”
Liang graduated from San Francisco’s California College of the Arts but is currently living in London, where she creates most of her art. The artist describes her style as “counter-realism,” explaining it as a “bridge between the real and the surreal.”

]]>Before turning to carpet making, Dalt was planning to get a job at a college. His plans fell through after the pandemic hit, and he started making pop culture-themed carpets while looking for something creative to do during the lockdown.
“Covid hit so I had no job and nothing to do, really, since everyone had to stay inside. So, my ADHD brain had to come up with something, and that’s when I found rug making. It started as a hobby and turned into a small business,” he told Bored Panda.
Lockdowns are long behind us, but Dalt’s carpets are still going strong. He has over 200,000 followers on both TikTok and Instagram, but what’s the secret of his success?
The reason why his carpets became a viral sensation was his decision to mostly focus on popular culture. They usually feature cartoon characters from beloved anime such as Pokémon, Dragon Ball Z, and Naruto, and that’s the main reason why they’re so popular.

]]>Chan is a New York-based artist who spent over two decades working in the jewelry industry, and even did a five-year tenure with Tiffany and Co. before starting her own brand. Her work slowed down during COVID-19 lockdowns, and this was when she discovered a new passion – collecting seashells with her daughter and transforming them into works of art.
Chan collects most of her seashells locally in New York, and she works from a home studio in her garage. After years of working with clay, wax, and metal, she’s now using sand, shells, and pebbles to bring her artworks to life, and she enjoys their intuitive nature.
“The seashells are like little jewels to me, each one a mosaic piece finding its place in the big picture. I’m inspired by their colors, texture, and shapes, and even the broken pieces, I find beauty in it,” she told My Modern Met.
Chan’s sculptures usually take the shape of animals, from turtles and crabs to lions and elephants, and she always makes sure that the shells she’s using match their characteristics.
