]]>Dave from Arrowhead Vintage & Goods specializes in upcycling thrift paintings and most of his work is inspired by the Star Wars franchise.
“I started making these designs because I owned a vintage store and had some really beautiful landscapes but I couldn’t sell for $5,” Dave told Digg. The artist explained how he was tempted to throw away all these paintings he owned for years, but eventually decided to give them another chance. That’s when he transformed a painting for the first time by adding an ATST and Ewoks fishing on the lake. And the result was amazing!
Finding old painting is not a problem these days, Dave claims, but breathing new life into them is a bit more tricky. Sometimes he needs several weeks just to study the painting and its style, in order to perfectly blend his characters into the scene.
Take a look at Dave’s unique paintings in the photos below.

]]>You won’t believe just how far some people took this challenge—becoming a viral meme that will stay with us all long after lockdown has passed.
People are really pushing the creative boundaries with the most amazing and quite frankly artful pillow-clothing creations. You wouldn’t think you could really have that much variation with just strapping a pillow to yourself, but look at these soft-furnished fashionistas! Look at this fab pair, perfectly matched in what can only be described as high-fashion pillow couture.
This mom-and daughter team are complimenting each other brilliantly with their pillow pastels—now that’s what we call quarantine chic! These pillow outfits are more than just meeting the challenge—they’re fashion goals for all of us.
And it’s not just the women of Instagram who are getting in on the high-fashion fun—the men of quarantine are getting their pillow act on too. We are simply in awe in some of the weird, wonderful and wacky outfits that have been created in honor of this iconic hashtag. Thank you, internet, for this gift.

]]>“People are always saying how vulnerable I am, and I think, Am I?” he reflected in an interview with The Great Discontent. “The truth is, a lot of us are really vulnerable. In real-life conversations, or in a 2 am tweet. I don’t think I’m any more honest or vulnerable than anyone else,” he admits.
“Knowing that life is difficult and that you can’t control things, allows you to make informed, but also really open-ended, choices,” he went on to say. “The phrase ‘things are what you make of them,’ comes up in my work all of the time, because it’s literally my guiding voice; both in my personal and professional life. It’s helped keep me going, but I think it’s also helped keep me safe.”
With his work being honest and accessible, it’s understandable why Kurtz gained such a massive following on Instagram. His illustrations and designs have also been featured in esteemed publications like the New Yorker, VICE, Adweek, and his books have been translated into over a dozen languages.
In other words: you should definitely join the club.

Because creativity is play, anyone can do it!”
Based in Prince Edward Island, she teaches anything from how to knit your own hat to how to bake a gorgeous birthday cake. But mostly, she focuses her work on papercrafts.
“At the heart of my YouTube channel is the idea that making the artifacts of our everyday life, things like cookies, calendars or greeting cards, into things of beauty is an important task,” she says. “It’s uplifting. First, because the process of creativity is so wonderful, and second, because it’s just lovely to be surrounded by lovely things.”

]]>“When it comes to body positivity, it’s not something that I was raised to embrace,” she told The Standard’s blog. “I think a lot of us are raised in societies where body shaming is a norm. If you don’t look a certain way, you’re not accepted or you’re asked to change. [When I was young] I was already hating how I looked because I was a stick figure with a little belly. And then I ended up gaining a lot of weight.”
It all changed when she was diagnosed with cancer and went through chemotherapy which meant losing her hair and her weight. “Then after my amputation, I was left with so many scars,” she added. “So, for me personally, I had trouble accepting a new body and loving it. And I went on a journey of trying to get to a place where I felt happy, but little did I know that I would bring so many people on that journey with me.”
It all culminated in September 15th, 2016 when she was invited to the White House to walk in the first-ever White house Fashion show. The event was a celebration of inclusive design, assistive technology, and prosthetics. “Before, I wanted to fly under the radar,” she admits. “I didn’t want to draw too much attention. Now I have my colorful prosthetic covers that have really nice designs and making my outfit match.”
Prepare to be inspired.

And with almost 400k followers on Instagram, it’s clear that many women are looking to be reminded just that. “The wonderful thing about social media is that you get to meet people around the world and you find out what they are dealing with, and with that you can be like, we’re dealing with the same things as well,” says Reels in an interview with Who What Wear.
“It’s not just [connecting with people] in our community, which is important, but also to connect with people around the world and what they are dealing with and have empathy for those people as well.”
Her platform has allowed her to become one of the organizers for the Women’s March in Los Angeles and a speaker at the Create & Cultivate Conference in Chicago.
“I think unconsciously, I always knew I wanted it to be a community because I always felt that women together are powerful,” she says. “We are so much better working together than separately. There are so many things that separate us, but if we can use all of those things and work to equalize all playing fields for all women, it’s just much better for the world and all of us.”

]]>The actual scars on her body are the legacy of a childhood accident. When she was only 3 years old, she suffered third-degree and fourth-degree burns all over her body and spent much more time in the hospital than any child ever should. As a result, she developed self-image issues and tried to hide herself as much as possible.
It took time for her to let her guard down, but with the help of her family, she has now fought and won her battles and is focused on helping the next burn survivor in need of support. She especially recommends swimming to those living with a disfigurement, saying that it’s an activity which brings immense peace.
“Don’t paste over the cracks in your life as I did, deal with them head on and begin to embrace you and your body,” she says. To spread this message, in 2018 she created the support group, Love Disfigure, which invites people to accept themselves with all the imperfections caused by accidents.
