]]>“I draw in order to make sense of landscape but also to construct and re model it,” writes the British draughtswoman in a statement on her website. “I build worlds and imaginary places that grow out of a need to interpret the sites that I have known, expanding and developing them across a page. This encompasses everything, from the visions of a grand landscape right down to the details of the land, the plants and creatures that may inhabit it.”
According to Kemp, a small work can take half a day to complete whereas her largest pieces can take up to six months or more. Inspired by films, literature, travels, art, and imagination, each piece begins with a simple idea from which she builds upon.
“I never really know what the work will look like,” admitted Kemp in an interview with MJCarty, “I think they are too big and too detailed to be able to foresee it all before making it. I have a vague idea – like ‘a forest of treehouses’ – then I just run with it taking each day as it comes.”
But according to Kemp, the final piece isn’t meant to make sense. “I suppose they are places devoid of people, sprawling and illogical,” she reflected. “The longer you look at them the less and less sense they make. The detail makes it all hang together, believable only for a moment.”
Her advice to other aspiring creatives? Draw something you’re truly interested in, but don’t spend too long wondering about that, or things never get made, “just crack on”, she says. Scroll down to see some of her work:

]]>Jump forward sometime later, and his experimentation turned into practice — a hybrid of drawing, animating, and coding. “My main focus is how computation can be used as a medium for poetry,” Lieberman stated on his website.
At first, Lieberman would share on his Instagram his daily sketches in the form of short animations. In these sketches, he tried out different visual ideas involving geometry, animation, gesture, and graphic form. “I had no idea what to expect but it felt like a good new years resolution and a nice way to experiment with some ideas I had been thinking about,” he would later admit.
His sketches are coded in openFrameworks (using Xcode), but a few use paper.js. “I don’t use GitHub, I don’t keep code clean, I just make and record without thinking very carefully about anything,” he says. “I sketch up until the point I think it’s interesting, record it, post it and clock out. It’s the opposite of how I approach commercial work. When I sketch I want to work as messy and mindlessly as possible — I don’t plan, I just see where the wind blows.”
We’re here to follow his interesting progress, wherever it takes him.

]]>The unique company was founded by Alex Furmansky back in 2013, and by now has manufactured over 77,000 toys for just as many happy kids around the world.
Furmansky came up with the idea for Budsies while watching his little sister grow up (he’s 16 years older than her). He thought it was a shame that her childhood drawings were simply forgotten over time and asked himself: “What if I could turn a drawing into a stuffed animal friend that would last forever?”

And of course, I’m thinking about a lot of things while doing this. And I found out about myself that I feel more peace and happiness by dotting animals, because in nature, there is no good and evil. Everything is as it should be. It’s pure and it’s natural.”
