. . . 🇬🇧 This is the beautiful Torre de Belém, an icon of our country, whose history was marked by the proximity to the ocean and the maritime discoveries of new worlds. Erected on the north bank of the Tagus River between 1514 and 1520, it was at that time completely surrounded by the waters that over the centuries retreated, leaving it surrounded by the beach, until it found land. This architectural jewel of the reign of D. Manuel I is composed of the medieval tower and the bastion with two levels of artillery fire, translating its mission to defend the Tagus estuary. It is classified by UNESCO in 1983 as "Cultural Heritage of Humanity" and is possibly the most photographed Portuguese monument! . 🇬🇧 Anyone who has been to LxFactory probably came across this fantastic mural of vibrant colors!
