Jolanda Stokkermans’ Food Art Pays Homage to Our Favorite Pop Culture Icons

Many modern artists see pop culture as their main source of inspiration, including the ones who work with food. Jolanda Stokkermans is a case in point, and she’s making show-stopping edible works of art, often inspired by our favorite movie and TV characters.

Stokkermans goes by @demealprepper on Instagram, where she has over 25,000 followers. She was initially only meal-prepping food for her family, but as she started getting more creative, her kids encouraged her to share her creations with the world.

Stokkermans’s food art takes the form of animals, flowers, and landscapes, but she has a special place in her heart for the iconic fictional characters. We’ve often seen her create portraits of characters from Marvel and Star Wars movies, Disney classics, The Muppets, and so much more!

It usually takes between two to four hours for Stokkermans to create each of her food masterpieces. They’re all 100% edible and she uses all sorts of different ingredients to make them come to life.

“In the beginning, I look in the fridge to see what ingredients we have. Sometimes I notice a special vegetable or pasta, and I come up with something new. I mostly use vegetables, tomato sauce, natural food coloring, soy sauce, and spices to color the dishes,” Stokkermans told Bored Panda.
