]]>While most people project shadow images using their hands, Japanese artist Kuronushi uses complex cardboard cutouts. This allows him to project shadow images on the wall with an incredible amount of detail.
Kuronushi frequently opts to create shadow portraits of pop culture characters and celebrities alongside additional scenes that change as he moves the cardboard. The list includes popular soccer stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, actors like Tom Holland, and movie characters like Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow.
As it turns out, making shadow portraits is just a hobby Kuronushi accidentally picked up. He was playing with his daughter when he noticed a shadow of her on the wall. He was fascinated by the projection and decided to start experimenting and making his own shadow images.
While Kuronushi’s works seem to be those of an expert, the artist only recently started with the practice. He posted his first shadow portrait in 2023 but already has a massive social media following, with internet users being amazed by his content. Check out more of his shadow portraits below.

]]>Maynard spent most of his childhood years playing around in the woods around his home in Washington State. He spent countless hours birdwatching and discovered his creative side once he started collecting discarded bird feathers at the age of 12.
“For him, feathers represent flight, transformation, and a bridge between our present lives and our dreams. Since feathers are universal symbols of these qualities, Maynard’s art speaks to many people’s longings as well as people who revere birds,” reads the artist’s official website.
If you’re wondering if any birds were harmed in the process, don’t despair. Maynard is a conservationist at heart, and all of his feathers were obtained in an ethical way, after being naturally shed, so he’s basically upcycling them through his art and giving them a new life.
Maynard mostly uses feathers from turkeys, parrots, peacocks, and crows, from private aviaries and zoos. He exhibited his art around the world, in addition to writing a book called Feathers: Form & Function.

]]>Inspired by Tom and Jerry’s longevity and its impact on pop culture, Japanese artist Taku Inoue started creating figurines inspired by the funniest and most memorable scenes from the cartoon. His pieces are so exceptional and detailed that you get a sense of watching the cartoon in 3D.
According to Inoue, he enjoyed watching Tom and Jerry when he was a kid and rediscovered the cartoon’s appeal while re-watching it with his kids. After he realized that there weren’t many quality toys and collectibles inspired by Tom and Jerry out there, he decided to make some by himself.
“As someone who collects videos, books, and dolls from favorite works, I couldn’t help but want merchandise while sharing scenes of hearty laughter with my child,” he shared in a recent chat with Bored Panda. “If they aren’t available for purchase, I decided to create them myself and build a collection.”
Inoue’s works have been quite popular among social media users, amassing more than 50K followers on Instagram. Check more of them below.

]]>Kagoe has a cool series of comics that are inspired by the world of Resident Evil, especially the 2021 video game Resident Evil Village. Her works capture the feel of the game, using its characters and scary atmosphere, but are also humorous and relatable.
Another thing that makes Kagoe’s comics unique is the way she creates them. Unlike most comic artists, Kagoe paints her comics with watercolors and does minimum digital interventions on them. This results in a captivating style that makes each panel a work of art on its own.
According to Kagoe, her passion for comics and video games dates back to her childhood. She used to draw all sorts of comics as a way to amuse herself while also spending a lot of free time playing video games. When she grew up, she decided to bring together those two into her current project.

]]>Announcing the news, the auction house revealed that it is the most expensive Ferrari ever sold at an auction. It only trails an ultra-rare prototype Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe, which was sold for $142 million last year. One Ferrari 250 GTO sold for more than $70 million back in 2016, but it was a private sale.
While there are 36 Ferrari 250 GTOs currently in existence, the one offered by RM Sotheby’s was unique for multiple reasons. It was initially built as a 330 LM model before being converted to 250 GTO. Also, it is the only one of its kind to be used by the manufacturer’s racing division Scuderia Ferrari. It took part in 1962’s 24 Hours of Le Mans and 1965’s Sicilian Hillclimb Championship among other races.
According to RM Sotheby’s, the car was originally sold to an Italian surgeon in the 1960s for $6,000. It changed hands several times before being acquired by the seller for $500,000 in 1985.
Despite its unique history and importance, this particular model didn’t meet the expectations RM Sotheby’s had for the car. The auction house expected to see the price reaching at least $60 million, but it ended up settling at $47 million before fees.

]]>The post New LEGO Icons Set is Dedicated to PAC-MAN appeared first on 5dwallpaper.com.
]]>The set consists of 2,651 pieces and comes with all sorts of exciting features. For starters, you will be able to mechanically simulate the chase between PAC-MAN and Ghost Gang once the arcade is fully assembled. It also features a light brick that illuminates the coin slot. Unfortunately, the game won’t be functional, but that doesn’t make it any less fun.
Also included are pieces for a scene that shows a minifigure playing PAC-MAN in an arcade parlor. On top of that, you will get to build a display showing PAC-MAN, Blinky, and Clyde that can be mounted on the arcade.
The PAC-MAN Arcade set is set to be released on June 4, 2023, and will go for $269.99 on LEGO’s official website.
“Our team of talented designers worked tirelessly to capture the essence of the beloved PAC-MAN arcade machine in brick form, from PAC-MAN himself to the colorful, maze-like environment he inhabits,” said Sven Franic, designer of the new Icons set.
“Every detail was carefully considered and crafted, resulting in a one-of-a-kind LEGO creation that captures the magic of the original game while adding a playful new twist and a couple of Easter eggs – in true video game style.”

]]>The distinction is important. Berry’s unique artwork stands out first and foremost for its realistic essence: the dramatic, if poignant, ways in which he reinterprets the world around him. It is only upon further inspection that you notice his unlikely choice of material: denim.
“My work isn’t all about it being denim,” Berry further touched upon the subject in one interview. “And while it often looks at community, I also set myself the challenge of using denim in a way that it no longer looks like denim, it becomes photorealistic.”
Using layers of denim (in its many varieties and forms), Berry constructs a blue, melancholic landscape that often depicts the more somber sides of modern-day living (a woman gazing through a window, a bartender working idly).
The choice of material, in that sense, reflects the subjects themselves. “I love the material because everyone can wear it, and most do,” says Berry. “In general, the beauty about jeans is that you don’t need to be an expert to feel comfortable wearing it and enjoy the experience.”
It is this low-brow, down-to-earth quality that makes his “paintings” resonate with a growing audience.
As for the creative process itself, Berry compares it to that of painting, but with textile rather than paint. “I do what painters usually do, play with the light and the dark,” he reflects.
“I have piles of denim in my studio: my friends’ jeans, jeans from charity shops, donations from denim brands and mills. My warehouse is organized by colors and it is growing bigger and bigger, so I can use a lot of shades.”

As she states on her profile, she uses “old bones of materials” , which she then reincarnates “into a new, and unique piece of art.” In other words, she’s so creative that she basically invented her own art medium.
Within her work, you’ll notice some theme recurring, such as old school video gaming. Above you can see an makeshift GameBoy she created, along with the enemies from PacMan. Clearly Nicky loves combining one passion with another, which is definitely fun whenever you’re an artist.

After building the set, LEGO aficionados will be able to recreate various scenes from the “Dynamite” music video. The toymaker paid great attention to details, including the donut shop with accompanying elements like DONUTS sign and donut accessories, the record store with brick albums including “Dynamite” on as a vinyl record, and even the ice-cream truck.
It is important to note that the idea for the set actually came from a pair of LEGO enthusiasts and BTS fans Josh Bretz and Jacob. The two created the set from stock LEGO bricks and presented it on LEGO Ideas, a website that allows users to submit their ideas that could potentially be turned into an official set. It received the necessary 10K votes from other users in late 2021 and is now finally seeing the light of day.
