Artist Creates Sculptures From Her Hair

Twenty-three-year-old Laetitia KY, a Cote d’Ivoire-based fashion designer, has come up with a new way to do art – using her hair. Her beautiful, long locks take new shapes each time she creates a new sculpture, immortalizing it only in a photograph.

This creative mind brings to the table concepts and themes you’d never think of putting in your hair, moving between subjects such as womanhood, pop culture, the human body, society, and tribal culture (amongst others).

You can see images of her hair turning into babies, cigarettes, cameras, ears, umbrellas, birds, snowmen, and many more. Laetitia was originally inspired by a photo series celebrating the uniqueness and beauty of African tribal hairstyles. This pushed her to ask what else she could do with her hair.
