We’ve seen dogs get along with all sorts of different animals, but how about turtles? Well, it turns out that they can make the best of friends, and Rocket Larry is the case in point. This adorable tortoise lives in LA with two equally amazing rescue dogs Puka and Willie.
Larry’s owner Christine Hilberg found herself missing an animal companion after she moved to Los Angeles. She was used to having animals at home to look after, and she decided to adopt one again after learning a local man wanted to re-home his baby Sulcata tortoise.
“I had a tortoise when I was a kid (his name was Chuck!) and I loved the idea of spending the rest of my life with a tortoise just like him. I adopted Rocket Larry and he became my first friend in Los Angeles,” explained Hilberg on the trio’s official website.
Larry was her first animal companion in LA, but not for too long! Puka was the next one to come into her home, and Hilberg gave her this unusual name because her sandy, brindle markings reminded her of puka shells. Larry and Puka became the best of friends, and Willie later joined them, completing this amazing trio, followed by over 40,000 people on Instagram.
