This Quirky Illustrator Draws Inspiration from the Litterbox

Illustrator Corina Alvarez Loeblich runs an Instagram page dedicated to her hectic life with three cats and a dog. Her quirky project is appropriately called Tales from the Litterbox.

Alvarez boyfriend perfectly captured the atmosphere in their home when Corina draws her illustrations. “You will hear her laughing out loud quite often while thinking of jokes and painting, so it’s very cute. Add a cat on her lap or blocking her work at the table with the weird dog at her feet, and the result will be unbeatably adorable. Even if they spoil an ink or two. Or ten…”

Serenity doesn't have to mean submission. It might actually mean HUNT. 😹 SO! If you have a great visual memory, you will recognize this one from last year. I have two great excuses, maybe three: 1. My 9yo iMac died. It's the graphic board, I'm devastated and trying to make the right choice. It is not easy for me to just go and buy a new one, this year we had major expenses and our budget is really tight. So, knowing that it is an important thing, I'll make my decisions with serenity and time. I'm still heart broken. I'm using Sebastian's, a great computer, but it's not the same and I'm a little slow at working with her and knowing her 💔 2. I didn't realized it was Friday (I chose to publish on regular basis on Friday's unless special occasions and celebrations). I'm never good at knowing the date because when I have job to do, I just do. If I'm tired, I just rest my brain. So it's very simple for me, and there's no space for knowing the date 😹 3. It's a great ink 💁 I'll leave you with the ink and the approvement of the pack about my brand new (used) chair. Great buy, only $10! And because they are in charged, I'm sitting in another chair so I won't disturb the royalty, of course 😹😹😹 . . . #pack #approved #talesfromthelitterbox #crazycatlady #ink #funny #loeblich #adoptacat #adoptadog #cute #catlover #cat #chat #neko #gato #catsagram #catofinstagram #adoptdontshop #adoptdontbuy #art #illustration #cartoon #humor #comic #illustrator #watercolor #evilkitty #christmastree #catsrules #royalty

For this blue Thursday, I first want to say farewell to this beautiful little lady, Tally. She's one of Chloe's daughters, a recent portrait of a precious Tuxedo grandma I shared. My heart is with you, Mike, and this only confirms what an amazing human being you are for having such a huge pack of well loved and perfectly cared elders: cats, dogs, chics, the hole bunch! For you to know, Tally was diabetic, and she was 19yo! I never heard of anything like that before, so it's a confirmation of the great people we meet on IG. A long life might be genetic, but eeeveryone living such happy and long lives at Mike's.. it's NOT coincidence: it's Mike, his heart and his hands. @the_egg_shack 💙 Thank you, @8coolcats for this new opportunity to honor life, love, adoption, family, proper care, respect and to be there for them until their last breath, as every pet deserves. Tally represented a first time challenge because she was a gorgeous calico mixed with tortoiseshell. It was important to respect the spots on her and also translate into brushes the subtle mixes of those colors. So thank you too, Tally, for teaching me how to paint you properly. 💙 I wish you a warm, sunny spot with your mummy by your side, dear Tally, grooming and loving each other forever! 💙 #farewell #tally #calico #tortoiseshellcat #talesfromthelitterbox #crazycatlady #loeblich #cute #adoptdontshop #adoptdontbuy #adoptdontbreed #adoptacat #adoptadog #adoptanelder #portrait #eldercat #ink #watercolor #illustration #cat #chat #gato #neko #illustrator #art #adopt #ilovecats #iadorecats #commission #kitty

My second post today is for another portrait of farewell to dear Max. A lot of you are friends of him and his mummy @sandycat50 , and we all know he even had this gorgeous furry toy of him, so very cute and gorgeous, like him. Max lived an amazing happy long life of 21 years! thanks to another great human being who can certainly demonstrate how well she can take care of her extended family of animals. Thank you, Sandy, for giving Max so much love and amazing long life! @sandycat50 💙 This time, a group of marvelous people gave me the chance and privilege to pain Max's ink. And if Tally was a challenge, trying to represent the natural flow of Max's hair was quite a task. He certainly has something of Norwegian forest breed even though he was a rescued barn kitty, and his hair has many colors except the tip would be very dark. It was delicious to think of his softness and to do my best on his portrait, but also trying to be true to my style. I'll share some sketches after this post so you can see the evolution: sometime less is more, and I love my artistic Max. 💙 Farewell, gorgeous Max. May you all be playing together and having delicious snacks while a gentle sun warms you up! 💙 #farewell #max #norwegianforestcat #barncat #talesfromthelitterbox #crazycatlady #loeblich #cute #adoptdontshop #adoptdontbuy #adoptdontbreed #adoptacat #adoptadog #adoptanelder #portrait #eldercat #ink #watercolor #illustration #cat #chat #gato #neko #illustrator #art #adopt #ilovecats #iadorecats #commission #kitty

So this is the story about this bunch of peculiar girls, Ruby, Stella, Dot, Maya and Dragon! 💖 First, I met Maya, who has an awesome extra chromosome. Maya was found by a dumpster in a crate and spent months in a shelter, set to be euthanized. Odd Cat Sanctuary saved her and brought her to a foster, where Maya's humans finally found her. Then, they fostered Dragon, a paralized cutie, and after some time, decided to kept her (impossible not to). Then, I saw this girl receiving Maya's book, and her reaction was so beautiful, that I decided to pay a visit to her account. Finding that she's an extremely rare gem and that she's totally fond for Maya, I ask permission to both families to do a portrait of them and they say YES! So, while studying Ruby's IG, I found out she had two special interspecies sisters that HAD to be included. Stella was found abandoned in a field with her puppies and she was adopted by Angie and Ruby when she was 2 years old. They went to the adoption together and Stella let Ruby lay on her so Angie knew she would be the perfect friend for Ruby. Then, Ruby's aunt found Dot abandoned in an apartment and they let her stay while finding a home for her… and yes, they fell in love with her also, so she became the new family member. The three of them has been together for almost ten years now! 💖 Even though this two families are separated by distance, they grow together with kindness, aweness and acceptance. That's why a quote from Ursula K. Le Guin burst into my mind the minute I finished the ink: "to be whole is to be part". We are interconnected pieces of a greater good. We boost our selves with the right surroundings and beings, we're better together. So this bunch of super powered girls are that to me, not only for what I could manage to draw, but the story behind every one of them. 💖 Pay a visit to @angieandruby to find more about Ruby and her awesome cat friend @meetmayacat! #awareness #meetmayathecat #raregemruby #ruby #kindness #acceptance #inclusion #disability #talesfromthelitterbox #loeblich #ink #illustration #portrait #adoptdontshop #adoptacat #adoptadog #cat #gato #neko #chat #love #strommesyndrome #peculiarpawls #pink #cute

So, I've reached a couple of hundred inks (I'm not including commissions or books in this style). 🐾🐾 I'm used to drain personal storms into something, to transform sadness, anger or stress in something pretty. At least, to force my brain to do something good out of the bad. So I did this much, which is actually very little, for a year and a half now. So when I started the inks, it was because the first death anniversary of my fav person in the hole Planet was coming -my Dad- and THEN, Sebastian (my second fav person) got cancer. So while I was going through all that, I was celebrating my birthday along with my father's death reminder, Sebastian in the hospital, his wounds, looking and dealing with the test results, dealing with a lot of professional failures and fuck. The kitties were born to force me to find some time out of my own misery. To force me to grab a brush. To forme me to do something pretty and simple. To force me to laugh with simple, stupid, honest little jokes. And of course, it worked. 🐾🐾 Tales from the Litter Box is still a personal project. It forces me to do something for me, while doing something pretty for you all, and that way, I feel useful and less… guilty, maybe? for having so much fun. Now I have so many inks that I don't know what to do with them. It seems appropriate if I start to bombard you with the "old ones". You will see the style developing. I wanted them to be free format, but at the end (because I'm waaay too structered and organized), they defined themselves into something more coherent and homogeneous. It's order. I like order and if I could control everything, I would probably start my own dictatorial regime with loads of animals and art. 🐾🐾 My other styles are quite different (I always adapt to every project), and if you're very observant, you will actually notice I didn't even had the right brushes to start with and using Rotring ink and watercolors were just an accident: they were just handy. I'm a lucky bastard. 🐾🐾 So, very first kitty ink and #tbt! . . . #talesfromthelitterbox #crazycatlady #ink #funny #loeblich #adoptacat #adoptadog #cute #cat #chat #neko #gato #art #cartoon

For this #friyay is the turn of @sir.gus.gus, another winner from the last contest! Their human voted TWENTY SEVEN times, so statistically now you know what to do for the next call, LOL (probably an unwise advice coming from me, but there you have it). BEAUTIFUL pair of cats, perfect for this ink, and just as adorable as their Mum! 🐾🐾💖🐾🐾 Gus is a large Ragdoll, almost 3yo and is what is called a shy cat. He is happy to sit and sleep in his window all day. He needs little attention. But he follows everything that his human does around the house, like cooking, cleaning.. He's VERY flirty, and will let you know it with eye blinkies and chirping. He's what they call "a latin lover", with a curly whisker included! Peach is the muted Tortie rescued at 6 weeks, and she's almost one year already! She is obsessed with hair ties and she's crazy, with tons of energy! She will plays fetch like a dog and wears herself out to sleep. She is so proud and makes sure Gus can’t play. She sleeps next to him at night in the window after grooming Gus and right next to their Mum. For them, an ink at their favorite spot, relaxing after a long day… relaxing 😹 🐾🐾❤🐾🐾 . . . #relax #relaxing #window #crazycatlady #ink #funny #loeblich #talesfromthelitterbox #adoptacat #cute #ilovecats #catlover #cat #kitty #chat #neko #gato #catsagram #catofinstagram #adoptdontshop #illustration #cartoon #humor #comic #illustrator #watercolor #siblings #ragdoll #tortie
