These Illustrations Remind Us Of Vintage Children’s Books

Kaley McKean child-like illustrations deserve more recognition. Calling to mind children’s books from the ’60s, her illustrations are minimalist and brightly colored.

And seeing just how imaginative she is, it doesn’t surprise us that she’s had features in publications like The New York Times and Time Out New York. Adding to her success, she’s recently illustrated the children’s books Howl Like a Wolf, written by Kathleen Yale.

“The fast pace of editorial work is exciting and it’s fun seeing the work in print weeks or sometimes days later,” she told Illustrators’ Lounge. “However, being able to take the time to focus on developing the book was a really interesting change for me, and I learned a lot. I’m hoping to have the opportunity to work on more books in the near future.”

Indeed, illustrating children’s book seems to suit McKean best. Take a look at some of her quirky creations in the gallery below and follow her Instagram page for more!
