The Chinese people believe that the smiling Buddha’s protruding stomach is a symbol of prosperity, luck, and happiness. It is known as a “Hotei”. They also believe that good things can happen to a person who rubs its stomach.

According to another legend, this statue must never be bought. A person can only get one if it is gifted to him or her. The statue is not Buddha himself but another monk who was loved by children. Apparently, there are six types of these statues, and they have specific positions where they should be placed in the house.

]]> It’s tough to get exposure in the art world nowadays, even with all the possibilities that the internet and social media provides us. There are so many talented artists that it’s hard to stand out. Still, sometimes the stars align and an unknown talent becomes a worldwide phenomenon with just one social media post. That’s exactly what happened with Eli Waduba Yusuf.

Yusuf is a Nigerian artist who creates jaw-dropping hyperrealistic pencil drawings. He often does portraits and has recently decided to recreate his favorite comedian, Kevin Hart. After finishing the work, the artist shared an impressive drawing of Hart on social media and expressed hope that the actor himself will see it. 

Twitter users were so impressed with Yusuf’s work that they started retweeting his post. Then something amazing happened.

Hart himself somehow learned about the young artist and decided to tweet back with an incredible offer.

“I see it, and I want to purchase it,” he wrote. “I also want to support you and your amazing talent by giving you a fee to do a pencil drawing of 3 of my celebrity friends that I can gift it to.”

Since then, Eli Wuduba Yusuf has been amassing followers from all around the world who are sharing his works on social media and want him to do commission work for them. Still, Yusuf put them all on hold, since he’s currently working on the portraits for Hart and wants to do the best job he possibly could.

“I hoped he would see it and actually believed he would see it someday,” –
Yusuf revealed. “But I did not know it would happen so fast. It has been so overwhelming, and words cannot describe it.”
