]]>Maka has a unique style that is characterized by the use of vibrant colors and adorning the subject with exaggerated features like lips, ears, and legs.
Maka created several nature-inspired series so far, including a particularly intriguing series called Endless Forest. The works from this series are dedicated to the works of Amos Tutuola. The late Nigerian writer is known for his short stories that were influenced by folk tales of West Africa’s ethnic group Yoruba.
In Endless Forest, Maka tried to bring the spirited animals from Tutuola’s stories to life in her own unique way.
“Nature is the main source of inspiration for me, with all its forms and flow. Plants and animals are often in my illustrations,” Maka shares on her website. “And when I need an interesting hero, I know where to look — the subway. Seriously, it always works! I met all my characters there. If you combine everything together, you get amazing stories.”

According to Devlin, through her unusual artworks, she wants to understand the relationship of humans with nature. The artist examines “the multicellular world with an attention to detail” while looking to “provoke fantastical suggestion into the secrets of these animal kingdoms; how they relate, resemble, and morph into one another. “
Devlin has captured the attention of the art world with her paintings, and rightfully so. The subjects her art deals with are rarely captured in such a captivating way, while her attention to detail and smooth brush strokes serve as a testament to her talent.
Devlin’s paintings have been slated to appear in several group exhibitions and solo shows in 2023. However, if they don’t reach a gallery near you, the great place to check them out is social media.

]]>Yeadon fell in love with nature while growing up surrounded by open fields and ancient woodlands in the rural part of the north of England. Nature has always been her biggest driving force, and she’s always been fascinated by animals and wanted them to be her friends.
She became interested in taxidermy after visiting the Walter Rothschild Zoological Museum, and it heavily inspired her art in the years to come. She started creating faux taxidermy insects, such as moths and butterflies, using black beading wire, before deciding to add some fabrics to the mix.
This proved to be a step in the right direction because fabrics allowed her to add new textures and techniques to her work. She kept on experimenting with mixed mediums and later founded her brand Homemade Trap, offering some of her creations for sale.
Yeadon has a special affinity for moths, butterflies, bees, and other insects, but her creations don’t always take these shapes. We’ve seen her get inspired by everything from mushrooms to mice, but nature is always at the forefront of her art.

]]>Brown’s entries consist out of beautifully done drawings of plants, insects, animals, or flowers that pop up from the pages and almost look alive. She also adds little notes around each drawing to add more information and fun fact about the subject of the entry.
According to the artist, she started the journal because “she wanted to record the things she was discovering, as she found them because nature is one of the most important things in her life.”
Brown also says that most entries in her journal consist out of things she encountered in her own garden. She hopes others will also be inspired to pay closer attention to go explore their backyard and meet the world that surrounds them.
