The post Eve-Lily’s “High End Vs Thrifted” Clothes Will Change the Way You Look at Fashion appeared first on 5dwallpaper.com.
]]>The London-based fashion blogger Eve-Lily describes herself as a “maximalist crazy cat lady”, and her social media channels experienced quite a boom in recent years. Her unique style drew over 500,000 followers to her TikTok and 300,000 more to her Instagram page.
Eve-Lily is no stranger to wearing expensive designer clothes – after all, her social media channels experienced a boom after she shared clips wearing Gucci and Prada in early 2021. Despite her love for these luxury fashion houses, she often frequents thrift stores, looking for second-hand clothes that perfectly fit into her wardrobe.
Eve-Lily is a huge believer that money can’t buy style, and she claims she started her social media journey with “a 90% thrifted 0% designer wardrobe.” She started collecting unique high-end pieces and used them to elevate her maximalist style, and she still stays devoted to thrift stores.
Eve-Lily’s content is pretty versatile, but her “High End vs Thrifted” clips are among her biggest hits, and they prove that you can shop at thrift stores and still look amazing.

]]>Mr. Bon and Mrs. Pon are a trendy pair in their sixties who enjoy wearing matching outfits. Wherever they go, the couple—that has been married for more than 40 years—makes sure that their clothes have the same or similar patterns and color.
The couple originally started doing this as a joke. As they grew older, they both had similarly gray hair, so they figured they could also match in fashion sense and coordinate their outfits. Their daughter was quite amused by this, so she took a photo of them and posted it on her Instagram account.
The photo ended up receiving overwhelmingly positive reactions, so she suggested her parents to make their own account and share their matching looks there. Mr. Bon and Mrs. Pon decided to give it a shot, which turned out to be a great decision.
It didn’t take long before the couple became fashion icons on this social media, and so far, they have amassed more than 800k followers on this social media.
According to Mr. Bon, the secret of their success is that they like similar things and have similar fashion styles.
“We decide based on how we feel each day,” he shared in an interview with BuzzFeed. “We like monotones, red and blue, so inevitably we decide on colors we both like.”

]]>We were recently reminded of the joys in fashion by Annie Naranian’s fashion illustrations. Though created digitally (using software like Illustrator, Photoshop, Procreate), Naranian’s illustrations have a hand-made, unfinished quality to them that’s well-intended. Through broad “brush strokes” and clashing patterns and prints, these illustrations highlight the carefree attitude that comes with a sense of confidence in self-expression. The overall attitude is playful, inspiring us to explore our wardrobe.
Based in Toronto, Canada, Naranian’s illustrations have caught the attention of huge names in the fashion world, attracting clients like Chanel, Marc Jacobs, and Reebok.
Her work process relies on intuition, as much as anything else: “Before I begin illustrating, my technical process begins with collecting images from Instagram, Pinterest, various fashion magazines, and Vogue.com,” she relayed once in an interview with I Love Illustration.
“My interest in vintage fashion can be seen reflected in my art, because I think much of contemporary fashion is indebted to what has come before it,” she further explains. “And it is that very connection my art seeks to explore: the ways in which the methods of contemporary fashion are related to or are different from the techniques of the past.”
With a nod to the past (as well as the future), Naranian’s illustrations are very much contemporary.

]]>The post Innovation Meets Fashion: Naim Josefi Designs for the Future appeared first on 5dwallpaper.com.
]]>“We use technology in many of our products,” Josefi told Make It Last. One example for Josefi’s clever use of technology is incorporating laser printing into his work, so as to make his products more sustainable. “Laser printing is not a new technique, but it has not been applied in fashion on a large scale before,” he notes.
According to Josefi, in the case of denim, laser printers can be used both for design and coloring purposes. While most surface designs on denim are produced by bleaching, Josefi’s alternative method proves to be more sustainable. “Through laser printing, we don’t need to wash the denim as much to bring out the design or the character,” he explains.
Another clever way in which Josefi incorporates laser printers is by 3D printing shoes. In this regard, Josefi is a pioneer, producing the world’s first 3D printed shoe. A newer version of the printed shoe was released earlier this year, with only 10 pieces per color.
Aside from laser printing, Josefi also introduced the world to steel denim, created using a yarn of actual steel. According to Josefi, steel can be melted down and reused an unlimited amount of times, making it a much more appealing material in terms of sustainability. Talk about being fashion-forward!

]]>Based in the Netherlands, de Graaf admits to drawing more or less her whole life: “As a 3-year-old girl, I was drawing all day long and when I turned 16 years I attended various courses in figure drawing,” she recalled in an interview with I Love Illustration.
She went on to study at the AMFI (Amsterdam Fashion Institute) in Amsterdam, and later got a Master’s degree in Fashion, Design, & Strategy at ArtEZ in Arnhem. “When I went to the academy, fashion drawing and figure drawing were my favorite subjects,” she notes.
After a short internship at Cosmopolitan magazine, she started working as a freelance stylist. “But illustrating was what I loved most so after a few years of styling I decided to change course and started working as an illustrator,” says de Graaf.
Nowadays, her work combines the best of both worlds—fashion and art—with selected clients including AvantGarde, Bijenkorf, Swarovski, Bordeaux, Femmesdusud, and Holland Herald magazine (KLM).
Working with materials such as ink, watercolor, paint, crayons, and pencils, de Graaf’s practice is more traditional, as she admits to preferring to work with her hands rather than sit in front of the computer.
“Before I start drawing I collect pictures from fashion magazines/the internet (Pinterest/ Instagram),” she explains about her work process. “I don’t sketch with a pencil; I just create lots of silhouettes or faces with watercolor/ ink directly on paper.”
The end result, though quite simple, is striking. Scroll down to see some recent highlights on her Instagram page.

]]>Her illustrations often focus on fashionable subjects, mostly women whose features are made to look exaggerated (big bulging eyes, an unnatural sheen to their skin). “Never draw to please others,” is Murialdo’s motto. “Only draw to please yourself.”
According to Murialdo, her growth as an illustrator hasn’t stopped after graduating. It also didn’t begin with her studies. “I have been drawing since I can remember,” she recalled in an interview with I Love Illustration. “I recall coming home from school and sketching long haired princesses with beautiful and improbably- voluminous over-wide-long dresses covered in flowers and ribbons.”
In her teens, she admits, she imagined becoming a fashion designer, but after realizing that fashion design was more than just drawing, she decided to lean into the more artistic side of it—combining both her passions into a career in fashion illustration. “I let my illustrative and artistic side to take over and I drifted into Illustration and Graphic Design,” she explains.
Nowadays, her clients include publications like Oxford Press and Elle UK. Scroll down to see some of her work.

]]>“I’m fascinated by people,” she writes on her personal website. “The way their eyes are just a little unhappy, how their mouth is saying something that hasn’t been said yet.”
According to van Bemmel, rather than sticking to realism, her illustrations offer an open-ended interpretation of the ways in which she sees the human body, and how this body interacts and moves through life. “Often my subjects are female, sometimes they’re in between,” she notes.
Having studied fashion design at ArtEZ Academy of the Arts in Arnhem, her work very much leans on her background. According to van Bemmel, though fashion Illustration was just a small part of her studies, since graduating she found herself leaning towards the more artistic side of fashion.
Her subjects, stylish and playful, are often painted in an exaggerated way. “Color is my instrument,” writes van Bemmel. “I don’t think when I apply color. It has to fit.” Her intuitiveness seems to work, with her subjects often portrayed using bold color combinations that are in and of themselves inspiring.
“I paint photos, Instagram photos, myself, my mind. They’re kind of like relatable aliens,” she writes. Take a look at some of her relatable aliens.

]]>But there’s another way to look at it – understanding fashion trends not as news items but as an art form. And as a form of art, fashion can be interpreted in other ways that aren’t restricted to just one particular medium. Following fashion illustrators is a great—and more importantly, inspiring—way of keeping up with recent trends.
A recent favorite of ours is fashion illustrator Esra Roise. A Norwegian freelance illustrator based in Oslo, her selected clients include VOGUE, Stella McCartney, Burberry, Estée Lauder, and NIKE, to name a few.
“I’ve been lucky enough to be graced with awesome clients that often let me play around with the given tasks, and just do my thing, which I very much enjoy,” she relayed in an interview with Artflakes, where she explained her work process. “But that being said, I try to accommodate the clients wish as much as I can without compromising my own aesthetic when working with a specific brief. With personal work, it is more of a spur of the moment-inpirations that can go in any which direction I chose.”
Inspired by everyday situations, the people around her, and the fashion industry and pop-culture in general, Roise’s creative process has a spontaneity to it that, in and of itself, reflects the spirit of fashion. “I often start doodling with no special direction and it just takes on a life of its own throughout the process,” she admits.
