The post Bird Lovers Have to See Beth Caroll’s Dreamy Tulle Embroidery appeared first on 5dwallpaper.com.
]]>Carroll is an Australian fiber artist, currently based in Offaly, Ireland, and she sees birds as her main source of inspiration. On her official website, she claims that she developed a unique niche for thread-painted birds on tulle and says she specializes in creating “the magical illusions that these birds will fly out of the hoop and into your home.”
With tulle, she manages to create this amazing effect, making it easy for her birds to blend into the background and seem life-like, especially when surrounded by nature. She often takes photos of her embroidery art outside, making it look even more realistic.
Carroll’s Instagram posts are quite educational, as well, since she always makes sure to share the names of the species she used as a subject. She uses behind-the-scenes progress behind each creation with her fans on Patreon, in addition to selling her work on Etsy and her official website, where she has a waitlist for commissions.

]]>The post Laura Dalla Vecchia is Using Dried Leaves as a Canvas for Her Bird Embroidery appeared first on 5dwallpaper.com.
]]>Based in Curitiba, Brazil, Vecchia inherited her love for art and handicrafts from her mother, while still managing to create something that’s completely her own. Her brand Leveza Art emerged from her enchantment with nature, especially with birds, and she put a lot of effort into translating their beauty through her embroidery.
Unlike most embroidery artists, Vecchia doesn’t waste her time with embroidery hoops and woven fabrics. She developed a completely new embroidery form by using dried leaves as a canvas instead, making her embroidery as natural and sustainable as possible.
In addition to having a talent for this art form, it also comes in handy that Vecchia was a biology student. She’s very familiar with different bird species in her home country of Brazil, and she’s using her art to shed some light on them, especially endangered species on the brink of extinction. Her Instagram page has attracted over 100,000 followers so far, and she’s using it to raise awareness about the delicate creatures she loves so much.

]]>“It has been hard to place my work within the sphere of contemporary art,” she admitted once in an interview with Textile Artist. “I sometimes show and sell my work alongside fine art paintings, while at other times it has been included as a craft. It doesn’t fit exactly into either of these illusory definitions—it just is what it is.”
What it is—is very much striking. Inspired by the dramatic seas and changing light of the Atlantic coast, as well as the sense of freedom of birds in flight, Henley’s work is representative – by its sheer size – of delicate birds in their wild natural environment and the contrast between intricate ornithological detail and the vast expanse of surrounding space.
Based in the West of Ireland, each piece begins by sketching and absorbing a place and its particular characteristics. “Birds are often a focal point but within every environment I’m looking at colour and dynamics in terms of movement within space,” she explains. “I draw to record what I see but also to try to capture the essence of the place and bird character and movement within a location, bringing out what is important to me.”

]]>The post Extra Big Bird: This Illustrator Went Viral Thanks to One Pigeon appeared first on 5dwallpaper.com.
]]>Like most viral phenomenas, it began with a simple observation. The setting was Loring Park in Minneapolis and Weiler was watching the pigeons gathering around her bench. “I’d never really thought about pigeons before, but they’re kind of weird,” she says, “their feathers are iridescent in the sunlight, but they kind of bobble around strangely.”
“They’re pretty, but also kind of dumb,” jokes Weiler. And so, being the creative spirit that she is, she took to work, quickly sketching the pigeon in front of her and then tweeting that sketch. “It ended up becoming my most popular tweet!”
Things sort of spiraled from there, making her pigeon the ultimate icon for all things silly. But though we originally arrived at Weiler’s Instagram page thanks to that pigeon, her portfolio proves she has much more to offer. And with clients that include Adobe, Mattel, and TIME Magazine, we’re clearly not the only ones taking note. Here are some less popular images by her:

]]>“Our page displays the daily life of Tydus and our African Grey Congo, Trez, Creating a blog type feel to it through the lens of our animals,” write their owners on the pets’ designated website. “We also promote good and healthy animal care in a very informative manner,” they add.
On the more informative side, they explain that Tydus’ coat requires a lot of care as it matts if left unattended. “He has a large stature complimented with a big chest which is often overwhelming for people, not to mention all that fur makes him look bigger,” they say. They also have to watch out for the mischevious Trez, often heard telling Tydus to “stop it” and occasionally compliments him with a “good boy Tydus.”
“Today, our influence and followers continue to expand to new horizons,” note their owners. With almost 160k followers on Instagram, it’s clear there’s an audience for this sort of content. The two have also been featured on numerous websites and social media pages such as 9gag, The Dodo, and Unilad, making them local celebrities.
We can totally see why.

]]>Inspired by the very richness of nature, in all its colors, shapes, and textures, Bartnik ‘s work is usually based on images rather than sketches. “I have plenty ideas in my head (sometimes too much) which isn’t always good because I forget to realize lots of them,” she admitted in an interview with the Paperfolk blog.
Growin up in an artistic family, Bartnik was surrounded by all forms of art and took to painting, drawing, and other forms of handicraft. “I finished art school but I learned a lot of things by myself, including embroidery,” she explains. “I discovered embroidery as a teenager when I found a book about folk embroidery. I really liked it so I decided to try it myself. It came naturally to me because I had a background in various other fields of art.”
“Embroidery is very time-consuming so I had to postpone it for a while and got back to it after a few years,” she adds. “I started to play around with felt and I discovered how good it looks when it’s combined with embroidery. Soft painterly effects can be achieved by using the felting technique and look perfect in combination with an acute line of threads.”
Judging by the finished product, her time is very well spent.

]]>Made after his favorite birds, each piece took him a couple of hours to make. “I am obsessed with animals, but especially birds and have been since I was a young lad,” Cook shared with Ohh Deer. “I’m always making stuff or trying to think of new mediums for art projects and I had played around with balloons in the past after seeing guys make some incredible stuff at the magic society I used to be a member of. I wanted to make a new project about birds, and for whatever reason, balloons just came to mind.”
Using Qualatex balloons made from natural latex, he assures his followers his materials are biodegradable and break down as quickly as an Oak Leaf. “I still have all the deflated balloons used from the different projects, and intend on keeping them until I can think of something cool to do with them,” says the eco-conscious crafter.
Other projects of his require more traditional materials such as watercolors, acrylics, inks, and robotics. Take a look at his creations (balloon made or otherwise) in the gallery below:
