Swiss Designer Recycles Found Objects into Quirky Furniture

Seeing discarded objects being given a new purpose is always impressive—especially in the way that Swiss designer Boris Dennler does it.

Dennler, who describes himself as a “self-taught craftsman,” enjoys breathing new life into found objects by turning them into quirky furniture. In most cases, the particular piece of furniture and its traditional function are opposed to each other. This is something Dennler aims for as part of his efforts to redefine “the status of the object and its form.”

One of Dennler’s works that gained a particular amount of attention was a Laser disc chair made out of hundreds of old CDs. This piece of furniture turned out so impressive that Belgian art center Galila’s P.O.C decided to make it part of their collection. The artist now intends to make four more in order to satisfy the popular demand.

Among other Dennler’s creations are chairs made out of steel tubes and old radiators, a lamp made out of plungers, and table that used to be a Jaguar car. His works have been exhibited in art galleries around the world while also being picked up by private collectors. You can check out more of them on his website, social media, or by scrolling below.
