Stephanie Davidson’s Webcomics Are Very Much Sincere

Stephanie Davidson’s illustrations and webcomics put us in a somber and reflective mode. The illustrator, designer, and art director tells it like it is and cleverly so. Born in Hong Kong, grown in Tokyo/Honolulu and now living in Brooklyn, NYC, her mixed background is also reflected throughout her work.

“It’s hard to say where I’m from,” she admitted in an interview with Les Femmes Folles. “Though it says Hong Kong on my birth certificate and my parents still live in Hawaii, I believe I spent my most formative years in Tokyo. It’s still my favorite city and I feel the need to return every couple of years to re-up on the weird inspiration I get from being there.”

With a BFA in Illustration from RISD, a graphic novel with Rachel Katz, and plenty collaborations to her name with brands like Nike, Apple, Coca Cola, and Snap Chat – it’s clear that her work has struck a sympathetic chord among her many followers.
