Mary Finlayson started painting when she was very young. In fact, she can’t remember a time in her life when she didn’t love painting. Besides being an established artist, she’s also worked as an art educator and therapist.
“My mom always kept a huge drawer in the kitchen full of art supplies so after school I would entertain myself at the table drawing and painting until it was time for dinner,” she remembers.
Finlayson works with acrylic and gouache to achieve the desired effect. “Painted Mary is a reflection of myself and my interests,” she says. “I’m not sure it’s a brand, but rather an expression of my art and experiences. My style is influenced by artists like David Hockney, Matisse, and Stuart Davis as well as the natural beauty and colors of California.”
