Machine Generates CMYK Line Portraits

Is art going to become something machines can do in the near future? Looking at these portraits, the answer might be yes.

The CMYK portraits you can see below are drawn using an algorithm created by Samer Dabra, a visual and generative artist. The tool that draws them is an AxiDraw v3 pen plotter.

The machine adds one color at a time and as they combine, we get to see a gorgeous portrait emerging. Dabra shares his work on Instagram, so give him a follow if you want to see more.

Do you think this can be called art? Is the definition of art being redefined as we speak?
