If you love food and art equally, it’s time to learn Julia Stankevych’s name. This talented Ukrainian painter created quite a splash on social media thanks to her amazing food paintings that look just as delicious as the real thing.
Stankevych describes herself as a 24-year-old contemporary artist who can’t imagine a day without painting. Since she started sharing her creations with the world, her Instagram page attracted 160 followers, with several of her reels attracting millions of views—but how did she become such a huge sensation?
Stankevych owes her rise to prominence to a very specific niche—food art. She isn’t the first artist to build a huge following thanks to painting our favorite tasty treats and she probably won’t be the last, but there’s something that separates her from everyone else.
Stankevych developed a special technique, and she’s using newspapers and gesso to bring her impasto paintings of food to life. She opted for this subject matter because she loves “to depict food, to convey its taste, smell, and sensation through paints and canvas.”
Stankevych wants to create images that evoke positive emotions, and she’s definitely succeeding. There’s something incredibly satisfying about watching her paint ice cream, bagels, croissants, waffles, pancakes, and everything in between—and they all look truly delicious.
