Artist Turns Old Books into Intricate Sculptures

Jodi Harvey-Brown couldn’t resist a box of old, discarded books just sitting there, so she started folding the pages, twisting the corners, shaping the paper – until she brought new life to the old books. Since then, she has been creating beautiful 3D sculptures of everyone’s favorite tales from old books that (unfortunately) no one is reading anymore.

Rather than creating pop-up books, Brown is creating stand-alone book sculptures. She uses mainly paper, with a UV finish to ensure their stability, and the occasional wire to keep things in place. Beloved characters and scenes come to life through her page-art. Those include everyone’s favorite trio, Harry, Ron, and Hermione, standing with their wands out, ready to overcome the final adversary; the Millennium Falcon taking off towards the infinite bounds of the universe; the hilarious tea party, complete with the Mad Hatter, Alice, and the white rabbit; Moby Dick, dragons, and mermaids and much, much more.
