Adriana Esquivel’s Illustrations Evoke Positive Feelings

Digital detox is most definitely a challenge, but understanding how to refill your feed with worthy content is in no way easier. Adriana Esquivel’s Instagram page might be a good place to start. Describing herself as an illustrator, graphic designer, and puppy fan, Esquivel strives to infuse her work with humor and warm feels – all those good things we’re craving these difficult times.

Based in Costa Rica, Esquivel’s work as a brand designer allows her to integrate illustration into her pieces, but she also does freelance illustration on the side as well as more personal projects. “Honestly, illustration to me is a form of meditation,” she shared in an interview with Ballpitmag. “It’s a way to disconnect my brain and just be in the moment. I feel like art levels me out, it gives me perspective and makes life more enjoyable.”

Her aim with her work? Make other people happy. “It’s hard to predict how people will react to your work,” she notes, “but I hope it brings people joy. I hope they feel good when they look at it and it bolsters their imagination.”

Naturally, her sunny backdrop also plays a role in her illustrations. “Coming from such a biodiverse place as Costa Rica, of course, I get some of my inspiration from nature,” says Esquivel. “Besides that, I get a lot of references from films, books, and stories in general.”

We highly recommend you follow her on Instagram.
