The New York Public Library is experimenting with the merge of traditional and digital with their “Insta Novels,” displaying classic books in the Instagram Story format available to all users of this social platform. They are hoping to reach the younger generation that spends more time on their phones than reading books.

The Insta Novels are very easy to read – you just find the story you want on the NYPL page and read page by page, holding your finger on the screen in between pages. Those who have used Stories format before will find it intuitive and effortless to read these new/old novels.

Some of the books that will be available are Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (Lewis Carol), The Yellow Wallpaper (Charlotte Perkins), The Metamorphosis (Franz Kafka), and more.

You can already see the first story on the NYPL Instagram page.
