Seeing discarded objects being given a new purpose is always impressive—especially in the way that Swiss designer Boris Dennler does it.

Dennler, who describes himself as a “self-taught craftsman,” enjoys breathing new life into found objects by turning them into quirky furniture. In most cases, the particular piece of furniture and its traditional function are opposed to each other. This is something Dennler aims for as part of his efforts to redefine “the status of the object and its form.”

One of Dennler’s works that gained a particular amount of attention was a Laser disc chair made out of hundreds of old CDs. This piece of furniture turned out so impressive that Belgian art center Galila’s P.O.C decided to make it part of their collection. The artist now intends to make four more in order to satisfy the popular demand.

Among other Dennler’s creations are chairs made out of steel tubes and old radiators, a lamp made out of plungers, and table that used to be a Jaguar car. His works have been exhibited in art galleries around the world while also being picked up by private collectors. You can check out more of them on his website, social media, or by scrolling below.

Tons of used plastic packages and products end up in the oceans, polluting our waters and becoming a life threat for many marine species. Even though many governments, organizations, and individuals do their best to combat this issue, there is no permanent solution for plastic waste for the moment, and we all need to put our minds and find viable alternatives for this common material.

LastSwab is a company that has designed the perfect reusable alternative for the standard cotton swabs that are carried around by little sea horses in ocean snaps. They are high quality, easy to clean, sanitary and a really cool contribution to sustainable living.

The swabs come in two forms, one that can be used for personal hygiene and one that can be used as a make-up tool. Made out of medical grade silicone, the reusable swab is gentle and precise at the same time and perfect for everyday use. To make things even more environment-friendly, the swab’s case is made of biodegradable cardboard. Designed to last, LastSwab will save you money and help save the planet as well, and it has an adorable packaging that makes it easy to take it everywhere with you!

The fashion industry is right behind oil industry as the second biggest polluter of our planet, and yet, we don’t consider it too bad. The truth is that you can contribute to cleaner Earth a lot by shopping less ‘fast fashion’ clothes, but that doesn’t mean you can only buy high-end items that will last you for years.

One great option is recycling old clothes into new ones, just like Sarah Tyau does. This mom of three was sick of having to buy clothes for herself and the kids all the time, only to have them ruined after a few washes. She learned how to sew herself and started transforming old pieces into gorgeous new dresses, skirts, blouses, and accessories. Her girls are thrilled they always have something pretty to wear and it’s even more special because their mom made it and it’s one of the kind.

Check out how Sarah does it; you may be inspired to try it out yourself.

Bonus points for you if you’ve watched my new Refashion Revision episode! If you haven’t watched, link is in bio, I’ll still give you some extra credit if you go watch it right now.😉 . . This tutorial is more detailed and lengthy than my other ones I’ve done(this one is 9 mins., the average length of my other tutorials are 4-5 mins.). So my question for you is, do you prefer it to be more detailed and meticulous step-by-step tutorial like this one or do you prefer the 4-5 min. version because it’s like Pinterest, you know you’re never going to attempt to do it but it looks cool and pinning it makes you feel like you’re somehow a part of that cool hack by associating yourself to it by pinning it, kinda like you see a clothing item you really love and you know you’re not going to buy it because it’s too expensive but touching it and caressing the fabric on your skin, breathing into the fabric so you leave your DNA and putting it in your cart for one hour while you shop makes you feel like you “owned” it for a bit so parting ways seems less dramatic and heartbreaking and makes you feel little better before you have to put it back and exit out of the store? . . Do you like my deep, profound analogy? Or do you feel like your I.Q just dropped 5 pts. after reading that?😂 I am just here to inspire you with my deep perspective, you’re welcome. #sharingmydeepwithyou . . So to sum it all up… Do you prefer longer tutorial or short? And am I the only one who does the above when shopping… minus the breathing part?
