Let us be honest, going to the doctor’s office is no fun at all. Scary needles, instruments you don’t know what are for, and not to mention the smell of disinfectant. But all this could change if your doctor was the number one health/medicine social media influencer. You might have watched his videos, but if you didn’t let us introduce you to Mikhail Varshavski, better known as Dr. Mike.
Dr. Mike is a board-certified family medicine physician from NYC whose goal is to “make the field of medicine relatable, understandable, and fun.” He currently has almost four million followers on Instagram and over six million subscribers on his YouTube channel. And just by looking at him, it’s clear to see why he is often questioned about if he is a real doctor or a supermodel.
In his videos, he reacts to medical drama TV shows, puts on vlogs from his workplace, participates in challenges, and does collaborations with other doctors.
“When I see a 10-year-old who is struggling or a 13-year-old who is struggling in school getting bullied perhaps, and they feel comfortable talking to me about their mental health struggles, or what is going on at home, I consider that a major, major win.”
