There’s a common saying that goes, “every tool is a weapon in the hands of a master,” and sometimes, the word “weapon” doesn’t always refer to something deadly, but rather, it can refer to something used to create something.
For example, an ordinary flatbed scanner.
Dubai-based artist Maitha Demithan creates surreal portraits of people using an ordinary flatbed scanner to capture the images. Using a normal A4 flatbed scanner, Demithan proceeds to scan her subject’s bodies dozens if not hundreds of times and then takes each of those scanned image to create the resulting portraits in Photoshop.
The results? A series of truly amazing and unique work that’s unlike anything else you’ve seen before.
