AI Designs Series of Stylish But Impractical Lounge Chairs

Artificial Intelligence is showing great potential in a number of fields in recent years. This is particularly the case in art and design, where AI regularly stuns us with its creations.

However, as displayed in a recent series of works shared by architectural designer Kaveh Najafian, the AI works still have a long way to go before getting to a point where they can be carried over to the real world.

Using AI-powered text-to-image software Midjourney, Najafin created a series of unusual lounge chairs. The designs that AI came up with are stylish and look like they belong in mansions or high-class hotels,  but they also had one big issue; they were impractical.

In some cases, the chairs looked unusable because they were designed in a way that would make sitting really challenging. In other cases, the problem was the material that was used for the chairs.

“AI-assisted art and architecture, however, has abruptly moved the concept to an uncharted space. Here there are no real or unreal, simply because the intention behind the creation is not clear, or better said, there are no intentions at all, to begin with,“ says Najafian.

While these AI-designed lounge chairs will probably never be brought to life, they are sure fascinating to look at. Check out more of them below.
