Una Kritzolina is Capturing the Beauty of Whales Through her Illustrations

Many artists tend to look underwater when looking for inspiration for their work, and Una Kritzolina found what she was looking for in whales. These gentle giants often take the center stage in her amazing illustrations that fully capture their endless beauty.

Una Kritzolina is the alter ego of artist, illustrator, and watercolor painter Petra Heider, who’s based in Graz, Austria. Since starting her Instagram page, she shared hundreds of illustrations with the world and attracted over 100,000 followers.

Kritzolina enjoys using her body of work to explore the beauty of the ocean, paying homage to the many magnificent creatures that inhabit it. Whales are definitely her favorites, and they’re living their best life in her beautiful watercolor paintings.

There’s nothing whales can’t do once Una Kritzolina grabs her paint brush. We’ve seen them surrounded by flowers, wearing hats and sweaters, and carrying entire lighthouses on their backs. Kritzolina will make you see them in a whole new light and stay in awe of their power.

If you’re passionate about art, Kritzolina’s Instagram page will also impress you since she has a habit of listing the tools she used along the way. She also published several watercolor guides for fellow painters, but they’re currently only available in German.
