You can do many things with leftover bread, from making French toast or turning it into croutons to preparing a feast for the local ducks. Oh, and make deliciously cool-looking lamps like Japanese artist Yukiko Morita.

Morita is the founder of PAMPSHADE, a company that produces lamps out of real bread. Whether you like baguettes, croissants, sourdough bread, or anything in between, PAMPSHADE has a lamp for you.

According to Morita, she first got the idea in 2006 while she worked in one Kyoto bakery during her studies at the Kyoto City University of Arts. She spent the next decade perfecting the idea before launching PAMPSHADE in 2016.

“The details are a secret, but our creative process starts with buying ‘unsold bread’ from several bakeries, “she shared with Creative Boom. “By purchasing the unsold bread, the bakeries are happy, and it leads to a sustainable creative activity.”
