]]>Morita is the founder of PAMPSHADE, a company that produces lamps out of real bread. Whether you like baguettes, croissants, sourdough bread, or anything in between, PAMPSHADE has a lamp for you.
According to Morita, she first got the idea in 2006 while she worked in one Kyoto bakery during her studies at the Kyoto City University of Arts. She spent the next decade perfecting the idea before launching PAMPSHADE in 2016.
Bread lamps are not just for show, as they are fully functional and can be used on a daily basis. The only thing you need to worry about is breaking them since they can be fragile, but let’s be honest, that is the case with almost every lamp.
“The details are a secret, but our creative process starts with buying ‘unsold bread’ from several bakeries, “she shared with Creative Boom. “By purchasing the unsold bread, the bakeries are happy, and it leads to a sustainable creative activity.”
