Melbourne-based artist who’s known as Cat Rabbit has nearly 160,000 people following her work on Instagram for a good reason. We also love her work and want to share it with you today.

Cat Rabbit’s characters are a happy little crowd. There are many adorable animals with human-like bodies as well as some odd creatures like her croissant-head characters.

Some of the toys the artist creates have a special meaning. For example, the toad with a blanket is a tribute to her friend who loves the show Frog and Toad. A small pug with a book in his arms is homage to author Zadie Smith who has a dog named Maud.

“I presented it to her when I went up to get my book signed. She was amazing and kind, and when the writer next to her at the table asked me, ’so what is it that you do, actually?’ Zadie immediately said, ‘this, obviously.’ Being validated by your hero! I was on a cloud for months,” the artist told Colossal.

“I started college without being very sure what graphic design was but I fell in love right at the beginning,” she told Ape on the Moon. Treating design as a crossroads where creative areas intertwine, she went on to say: “I don’t want to try to define the limits between design and art, analog and digital, because I really appreciate the free flow between these areas and different media in search of a satisfying outcome in every project.”

“I always knew I would work with something creative,” she admitted. “But for a long time I didn’t know if it would be music, fine arts or design. In fact, I decided to go to college for graphic design after reading in a magazine that a designer was the person who creates book covers and posters.”

Here are some of her eye-popping designs.
