]]>In order to explore the influence that branding has on people’s decisions and their perception of a certain product, Indian artist Kunel Gaur decided to start a series in which he gives a makeover to some of the most popular and recognizable brands in the world. In Gaur’s works, the packages of Pepsi, Mars, and Coca Cola, among others, adopt a generic and minimalistic design.
According to Gaur, who’s the owner of an advertising company, the inspiration for his works came from an architectural style from the 1950s known as Brutalism. This style was known for its rigid forms, unusual shapes, and rough look.
“The series is an ode to functional design inspired by Brutalism,” – shared Gaur in a recent interview. “In a world where all brands are trying to get your attention, I wanted to experiment with stripped-down, product level communication behavior of known brands, sans the embellishments they’re typically identified with.”
