]]> Designer Andrew Chiou knows that unique sneakers are hard to come by unless you manage to get your hands on some limited-edition releases. This is why he is giving cool makeovers to mass-produced kicks like Nike Dunks or Air Jordans in order to make them more special.

Chiou, who is the head of Roommate Studio, uses the world of anime and video games as the main source of inspiration for his custom sneakers. So far, he has showcased sneakers based on various Pokemon, the Dragon Ball Z character Vegeta, the anime Sailor Moon, and Nintendo’s classic game Super Mario Bros.

When creating his one-of-a-kind sneakers, Chiou stays true to the color scheme of the source material while also including as much detail as possible. For example, his Nike Dunk Lows Vegeta Custom combines Vegeta’s signature blue color, and yellow details to represent his Super Saiyan transformation, as well as the Saiyan armor pattern on Nike Swooshes.

At the moment, many of Chiou’s works are just concepts and ideas that the designer wanted to share with his followers on social media. However, if they keep on getting this level of attention, which includes inquiries about purchasing some of his kicks, there is no doubt that Chiou could turn more of his works into reality.
