The days when they’ve been seen as somewhat of a torture device are long gone, thanks to the artists who are trying to make them comfortable and chic, such as Alana Fuji.
This corset-maker attracted around 20,000 Instagram followers with her whimsical creations, and that number will most certainly grow even higher. She saws all of her corsets, but they also happen to be hand-painted, paying homage to the classic art.
One thing we like about Fuji is that she doesn’t rely on making corset replicas of famous works of art and prefers doing her own thing. It’s pretty clear she’s often inspired by the great masters, but her corsets are more of a homage than carbon copies of their work.
All of her corsets are custom-made, and she recommends washing them with cold water and using gentle detergent or soap to preserve the artwork.
