Most of Thompson’s comics are black and white, feature minimalistic drawings, and just one line of text. But that is more than enough for him to deliver his social media followers plenty of laughs.
In order for simplistic comics to work, they have to start with a great idea. For Thompson, finding those ideas isn’t a process set in stone. He employs all sorts of techniques, including meditation and looking through “random” images and words until he finds something that piques his interest.
“I keep a note on my phone of thousands of fragments of ideas, and another note where I polish those fragments into fully-fledged ideas,” he shared in a recent chat with Bored Panda. “I find that you really can’t force ideas – you have to just spend a lot of time in a deliberately receptive state of mind, and allow them to come.”

According to Star, she decided to start working on these comics during the pandemic. It was a way for her to fill out her time while also connecting with other moms. But what started as a pastime ended up growing into an important project for her.
“My life is my inspiration, so there’s never a shortage of ideas—the challenge is finding the time to express all of them,” she explained in a recent interview.
Star’s comics gained quite a lot of attention among other moms, who love her drawing style and relatable humor. The Instagram page of Mom’s Life Comics has more than 300K followers, with that number rapidly growing each day.

The artworks will be on display in the art space Artelli at City of Dreams, Macau, from August 1 to October 15. They will be accompanied by several large-scale doodle pieces that Mr. Doodle has become famous for. The visitors will also be able to acquire one of five limited edition prints done in editions of 100.
As part of the exhibition, Mr. Doodle will also host a live doodling performance, his first, on September 12.
“The Disney collaboration feels very natural due to the similarities between our two worlds, DoodleLand and DisneyLand,” said Mr. Doodle of the project.
“Both our immersive worlds are full of wonder and fantasy and aim to spread joy and happiness to everyone. The creative process was fascinating. I feel privileged to have been invited to contribute to Disney’s centenary celebrations and hope that the paintings capture a sense of the fun and enjoyment I experienced whilst creating them.”

Besides her work on Half Full, Scrivan is also known as the author of Nat Enough series of graphic novels. Four books, which have been translated into eight languages, have been published to date, with the fifth one being in the works.
